BC Recovery Benefit.......How long?

We had ours in the same timeframe, but my oldest son had to wait a few weeks for his as he had to send in additional documents.

I heard that some people still don't have theirs.

Yeah, we JUST applied for it too, and after doing so, I did some checking on the timeframe to receive it, and a few articles came up with blurbs about, IIRC, something like 460,000 applications having to be manually checked, mostly due to some slight incorrect information, such as, transposed numbers. More recent articles have mentioned numbers having been whittled down by a lot, but still over 100,000 left to deal with. In the comments to those articles, there were several people that hadn't received theirs in MONTHS, were adamant that they were very careful to fill out the application properly, and they HAD NOT been contacted to submit any further documents. (n)

I guess we'll see how it goes.....

Carberry Manitoba is the the french reverie, of the old prairie.....
.....mosquitoes, the size of a VW bug.

LOL, it's not like Carberry has exclusivity on skeeters like that! :D When I was a kid, we lived in Portage la Prairie(and Gimli before that), and one time, on the way to Winnipeg, we stopped at a place called Norquay Beach, and when we got out of the car, we were assaulted by a CLOUD of the damn things - the WORST I've ever seen, and having lived in MB for 9yrs., I've seen plenty of 'em. 😱

So, did any folks here get this kind of email after applying?

Considering all the crap I already provided, it seems like they want quite a bit more......

Please provide us with the following documentation:
  1. To verify you and your spouse or common-law partner's net income, a readable copy of ALL pages of you and your spouse or common-law partner's most recent 2019 Notice of Assessment or Reassessment from the Canada Revenue Agency. The Canada Revenue Agency will issue your Notice of Assessment after they finish processing your tax return.
  2. A readable copy of at least one piece of valid identification for you and your spouse or common-law partner, such as:
    • Canadian passport
    • B.C. driver’s licence or enhanced driver’s licence
    • BC Services Card
    • B.C. identification card (BCID)
    • NEXUS card
    • Permanent resident card
    • Canadian citizenship card
    • Certificate of Indian Status
  3. • Phone bill
    • Credit card statements
    • House insurance or renewal
We may also consider other documents you feel support you and your spouse or common-law partner's residency in B.C.

Are you up to date with your tax return(s) ? They won't give you any money unless they know you've filed your tax returns and paid your income taxes.

Yes, we're up to date, BUT, I got to thinking that the timing of us getting up to date MIGHT be the issue, i.e. MAYBE there wasn't quite enough time between when we got up to date, and when we applied for the topic of this thread......

That's probably the cause for the request for documentation. You're relying on the federal gov't to let the provincial gov't know you're up to date, and I don't know how often that gets updated.

Yeah, I suppose it was rather naive, and overly optimistic to assume that a little over a month was long enough for the Federal Gov't. to relay a wee bit of info to the Provincial Gov't...... stupid us, for thinking it'd be done electronically, within a week or two! 👎
