Beijing Olympic

Thats in the youtube clip? I clicked on it but it looks like its gone. Poor bugger, what a way to end your olympics-glad I didn't see it if thats what the clip was. I love watching the weightlifting anyway, an amazing and complex sport.

Did you see that one Weight Lifter break his arm? It was kinda nasty.

IT was indeed pretty nasty
the sarcastic part was the chinese staff ran in and blocked the arm in a practiced formation, as if this sort of stuff happens every day hahahaha

It's Friday and still no medal for Canada..while other nation racking them up like no tomorrow.
China have 41 and USA have 46. Even Mongolia have 2 medals..The nightmare continue.

No medals for Canada - I can't understand - South Korea has them, Mongolia has them, why not Canada ? If PIE eating was an olympic event, would they manage to get any medals ? Considering they have 1 to 2 years to prepare and train, it's kinda disappointing to see other countries get them - guess maybe the pie eating event is not such a bad idea, might get Canada a few medals ;-))

We should have Street Hockey as an Olympic...or how about Grass Skiing?? Well let's hope one of the athlete fail a drug test than our 4th place athlete can win a Bronze medal...Keep on praying.

I'm as patriotic as the next one in wanting to see our athletes do well, but maybe it's becasue we treat athlete more as people than commodity.

I mean China, for example, takes children as young as three and places them in a training program where their life is oriented to being an athlete and whos sole purpose is to win medlas for the glory of their country. Tell me a three year old is intellectually mature to decide on a lifetime of that rigourous training, and then when they want to leave the usually aren't allowed to.

I'd rather not win medals than have that kind of sport program. And yes I know they are at the opposite extreme but I still think if an athlete, or anyone else can do their best, set new personal records etc. then they're already won - and don't need a medal to prove their worth.

Well I don't necessarily agree with this - you don't need to exploit kids and make them train at 3 years old to win medals - What about the other countries who have won medals ? It still will be an embarrassment if the olympics end with Canada with NOTHING :)
