You want to put 4 Tornado , I can't stand in a room where 1 work.... no need for a Silent Case with those one and no need for speaker too. you will not ear them.....

Norton ????? No need to buy an expensive EE CPu with a software that will turn it in a celeron.

I'm not too sure about norton 360, but i know norton internet security isnt as bad as it used to be. Doesnt slow my system down.

As for the system, does he need something as fast as an i7? What exactly is going to be done on the computer?

Ha! "Top of the line" and ya don't even Three monitors and a Triplehead2Go :haha: Might wanna rework those quotes a little. And yes, price checking is a MUST.

I suppose I could and he plans on doing some serious high end photo editing as well as folding@home.
If norton is crap I know of several free apps that would suffice that don't slow my system down
I'd certainly do price check however he wants to buy the parts locally and not online and these are the best prices I found for local shops. 2 monitors and he said to factor in a 5000 to 6000 budget but this was no including the monitors.

If he is going to fold then swap the ATI 4890s with two nVidia GTX 285s. ATI is not in the same league as nVidia in the folding arena. Also, make sure he knows to disable SLI or Crossfire, if he wishes to fold on two video cards.

Remove norton and replace it by something know better like NOD32 or Kaspersky, change OCZ ram for G.skill or Mushkin or corsair. And maybe replace the monitor by any dell or samsung or LG

Also, that Blu-Ray drive you have also burns DVDs and CDs, so unless there is some other feature you want, or want 2 optical drives, then you may want to drop the DVD burner.

Another concern I have is that Extreme i7 965. While I don't have i7, many, many folks are getting those speeds on an i7 920, which is $1000 less. Perhaps take out the 965 and the Raptor, and get some Intel SSD drives if you want to spend $6000.

+1. Those Intel SSDs (4 of em) in Raid 0 Are absolutely insanely fast. And save the $1000 and OC the crap out of a 920 using a Freezone Elite/ Boreas / High-end WCing / Phase Change.
