so you're going to re-work the solder are you sure it's not just easier to bend the pins back ??? and are you talking about a BGA stencil guide ??? like these

yeah after hours of trying to find it i added the word stencil to my searches not i sent out a few questions to sellers to see if the universal ones would work with ryzen cpus,

from what i can see there is a few twisted pins and at least 2-3 broken pins ill first try to bent the bad ones but i will have the tools on hand soon to try this.

Oh OK I didn't know you had twisted pins just thought they were bent and ya not that easy to find but may find something here you could use.

I would also look for AMD pin repair kits of some kind

Yeah all the vids I seen show them using some but don't bother to mention where they got em or what they are. I may have to attempt to Yolo it on there with percison tools and prey.

Wow, big job to be done.

I wish you luck to fix that cpu, as I would simply cry over it.

I don't have the patience and dexterity to do that kind of work.

Please keep us updated!

Can we call you braveheart from now?

You're not re-balling and re-pinning the whole thing right your just using the solder stencil like this to get the pins straight right ???

This was a pretty neat idea to save one, pin soldering is the only type of micro-soldering I haven't done and DJbrad is right you gotta have steady hands but I think you can do it, I mean the 5900x is a nice paperweight but you really have nothing to lose, do you have pics of the bent 5900x up??

I hope you're buying a cheap burner board you dont care about to test the chip on should you succeed. There is some risk that even if you manage to stencil the pins on that you could fry the motherboard. Food for thought.

Yeah it's only I believe 3-4 pins depending if I can untwist one pin and prey none of the pads are ripped off the stencil will be just to guide and help keep it straight as I use the reflow and I have the percison tips unlike Linus so I should be able to be more accurate.

I will also attempt fix a amp/DAC as it was $125.

i have the unique opportunity to try this all parts are on the way if the seller says the stencil will work I'll grab it if not I'll fly solo and try do one pin at a time.
