Don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing that this thread is kind of dead. But here's a new one.

Chevy Pickup’s Vise Grip Steering Wheel Worked Until It Didn’t

Somebody driving an old Chevy with locking pliers as a steering wheel got themselves into a little FAFO situation.

I have done this once , I remember long ago I think before Powerseering ther was a thing called suicide wheel or something ( cool found one on Amazon here https://www.amazon.ca/VaygWay-Steering-Wheel-Spinner-Suicide/dp/B01N7TLQFG?th=1)
like that what it was was you install thing small rotator on the top of the steering wheel when you drove it made it so you could easily onehand steering but sometimes the little ball thing could break off causing you to loose control of vehicle my dad had one on a vehicle we own ( 1960s) I owned one but found it really wasn't much faster than me steering

I think the biggest issue with them pre-dates power steering when there was a direct mechanical connection between the wheels and the steering wheel. Prior to power steering / power assist any bump in the road (or hitting a curb with your tire) could result in a fairly violent movement transmitted to the steering wheel which can be a problem if you're not properly securing the wheel with two hands. (at the 11/1 o'clock position of course.... ).

... why you'd Want to show off this stuff is a different question entirely. Notice how onlympne clip out of 5 was "no one was harmed"? Oh yeah, the others were harmed, aka dead or severely wounded.
