DDR5 pricing going up FAST

Now it's rumor ASUS is going to make more DDR4 boards in Q1 2026 because no one can afford DDR5 (relatively speaking).

yeh...forget if it was Samsung or someone else, but the headline said some chip maker is spinning up DDR4 production again...but I still don't see DDR4 prices being reasonable as demand is going to skyrocket, use up whatever DDR4 is available now before production will spin up enough to support the new demand; if it ever does.

this is going to be a serious bottleneck for new technologies now that AMD and Intel are both fully committed to DDR5 platforms and now nobody can afford to buy them. that will seriously cramp any need to roll out the latest and greatest because nobody can afford it.

makes me wonder if this could push a move to help push and simplify / unify the memory technology used. it could simplify production enough and allow mass production to scale and ease stresses. I know...I know, it's a pipe dream. LoL!

@Marzipan at this point if the big tech companies cant swing the market in there favour for $$$$ they wont be eager to make something they cant corrupt to there benefit.

just look at m kit from $265 for 64gb to $1659+

Well there was another rumor that ASUS may spin up its own factory but the source is from an Iran news outfit so that's probably BS. Intel probably is the one that got the fabs to do it if they know how to turn the disks to memory, they done it before with Optane and SSD. The other problem is that Mainland China fabs are switching to DDR5 this year. 30 seconds of Googling return articles showing CXMT phasing out DDR4 by mid-2026. Given how much margins there are for DDR5 right now, I too would start shifting most of the capacity to DDR5. Hopefully that drives down the prices but I'm still too unsure about buying Chinese NAND products.
