Yes really.

The leader of the group ride would actually motion for me to do it when two cars were blocking us of and traveling at the same speed. Once I was in front, I would get into the "fast" lane and put on my brakes. Once the cars were staggered enough all the bikes would pass via the fast lane and then I would catch up after.

And people ALWAYS step on the gas the moment they are being passed. Almost everyone. It's an unconscious thing, I think.

Tell me WHY a semi should always be in the right lane?

on any roads, they always slow down OR accelerate slowly... semi-truck is totally different design what the normal car/suv/truck is...
