Hi there. This is my first build and I was told you folks tend to give good advice when it comes to these things so I'm gonna post some info here.

Case: Lian-Li Lancool PC-K56WB ATX Advanced Mid Tower Case

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H AMD785G mATX AM3 PCI-E DDR3 Video Sound GLAN CrossFireX HDMI

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual Core Processor Socket AM3 3.0GHZ 2MB Cache 60W

Power Supply: OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W ATX 20/24PIN

Memory: G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 240PIN Dual Channel

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA2 3.5IN 8.5MS 7200RPM 32MB Hard Drive OEM

DVD Drive: Samsung SH-S223L/BEBS 22X SATA DVD Writer Lightscribe OEM

This PC will be replacing my Shuttle XPC which I've had to painfully endure until now. I'm also on a pretty tight budget as I'm in college at the moment. I'm planning on spending $500-$600. I didn't include a video card because I won't be doing a lot of gaming right now but if I ever get more money I'll be able to put a good one in there. I think the on-board will be good for now. I got this parts list from NCIX Canada which is probably where I'll be buying from.

Suggestions? Opinions?

For a budget rig that won't be doing much gaming I'm sure it will be fine. The psu seems lil overkill, but if you're adding a beefy gpu later it will prove handy.

Nice build!

This is about the same as my htpc.

The processor is very energy efficient.
Your psu is probably over kill as said above. I am using a good Seasonic 400W.
I would consider Western Digital Green (energy efficient) or black (great performer) caviar as hard disk.
Lian-Li Lancool PC-K56WB case is larger than you shuttle XPC, if you want good small case, you can look at nmedia as they are cheaper than Lian-li/silverstone and do very well!

Edit: Your ram doesnt match any qualfied motherboards from g.skill website G.SKILL-Products

I would suggest you;

Why using a mATX board when your case is actually ATX? This is not much price difference with your current board and this one support your ram!

Note: The Ati HD 4200 integrated video card in these motherboards is really good. You will be able to play many titles. Maybe not all maxed but, it work quite good!
