Game Sale PSA

Jesus. How much money is Epic throwing at trying to get people on their ecosystem?

I had the same thought when GTA V was free, now Civ VI. But is their strategy working... has anyone here actually spent any money yet?

Personally, having received nine free games, to date, I won't. Bought a game at Steam today though.

I bought Control when it came out as well as the seasons pass here the other day for it.
I dont mind it, would I like to have just 1 game launcher? Sure but hell, steam, epic, uplay, origin, xbox.... the list goes on.

Yeah picked up Control + Exp and Metro Exodus Gold in the sale. Plus the few free games I have been interested in.

Epic is still evil, but a good deal is a good deal (or free), so I am willing to be a hypocrite at their expense. If they keep this stuff up and stop being asshats with exclusives its good for everyone. This is what competition is supposed to be ..

Yes, I have. I have every other game service going pretty well so I didn't mind adding Epic, and like Entz said I tend to buy where the deals are. I still don't see how they are more evil than any other service, but I haven't delved too deeply...

For those of you concerned about having multiple game launchers, try Playnite. It's a central launcher that shows all your games in one spot, and automagically opens the associated Steam, Epic, Origin, etc. launcher & the selected game when you start the game you want to play. All my games are in one launcher and it's free. https://playnite.link/

I've been using it since you suggested it last time! Love it. Only feature I still wish it had is automatically shutting down the game service when you exit the game so they are not left running in system tray. But the features is does provide are awesome imo.

It's worth noting you can do the same thing if you download the new version of GOG Galaxy and can add PSN and XBox games as well.

Only thing about that, I think (?), is that you have to put your other service credentials into GOG for that to work don't you? As in you have to link your accounts? Correct me if I'm wrong there @FreeKnight.

Playnite just scans local PC locations to find your games and then presents them to you. You can also manually add games that aren't part of a service and add game service local drive locations if you put your Steam games for example in a non-default spot or multiple locations. I prefer that to having to link my credentials.

Yeah you do, apparently because you can use Galaxy 2.0 to install/uninstall and otherwise control your Steam games it won't work without having your login.

I'm not too worried about it myself, but it's a reasonable concern to bring up.
