That was the problem though.... he didn't say a bloody thing about performance (because these dells would perform as well as any other similarly spec'd non-proprietary system). His whole focus was on the fact that the parts were proprietary (truth be told... the proprietary PSU is probably higher spec'd and more robustly built than a standard 500W PSU would have been).
Throw in several other bits with him dramatically faking his discovery of yet another proprietary part (he looked like one of those snake oil salesmen fumbling with something on made-for-tv ads) and he put himself on my do-not-view list.
If it had been an earlier version of the Dell that had major problems with airflow and he focused on that I would have applauded him. Instead he went on a rant because a proprietary system included proprietary parts without tying that in any way to performance / suitability issues.
Exactly.
This was a pre-built designed for Entry Level gaming. For kids. People who play Fortnite/LoL ect ect. Not those who have a propensity to Tinker on a build.
If you Tinker, you tend to build your own. So knocking it for being a fixed configuration or limited one was absolutely off base and dishonest.
He was viewing it through the Lens of an Enthusiast vs the Lens of a 13 year old who just got it for their BDay and can finally play those games with his friends.
It was, idiotic.
Edit - Also, you are right on the Power supply. Dell uses almost exclusively Delta for the PSU's.
