Same. Will order it for the PS5, since it's been upgraded for the PS5 hardware and controller. Someone on Reddit suggested that it's a SONY thing - DRM. GOG got it 3 months later. So it might still be possible on GOG.
I thought the game still looked pretty good anyway so I'm not too fussed about it :)

I originally bought & played it on the PlayStation 4. Eventually bought it for the PC so I could use mods. It's an exceptional game. A big shift in game development, considering that the studio Guerrilla Games was previously doing online multiplayer games before. Killzone in 2004 to Killzone 3 released in 2011, which I played a lot on the PS3. Killzone was a sci-fi version of COD with 16 players. The game had a spawn grenade - you could toss it anywhere to bring in respawns. So in a room with 2 teams and spawn grenades, you could end up with 32 players sometimes...

I've been waiting for a good sale on Forbidden West. I know it's had some gripes about being 'not quite as good' as the first game, but I enjoyed zero dawn enough that even it's it's marginally worse it'll still be a great game.

Somewhat on topic, but it was a sony exclusive and is now on PC, if you like Yakuza style gameplay but with a more 'detective noir' story and some really good story sequences, 'Judgement' was a lot of fun on PS4. I wouldn't pay full price at this point, but it's $15 on steam and well worth it at this price.

I found that there was a lot to like about Forbidden West, but the game was expansive and too long. A lot more weapons, arrows, armour, etc with too many upgrade choices, where Zero Dawn seemed to have a good balance. Amazing world to explore especially with the new ways to travel. Overall it's a great transition from HZD to FW.

And now a Horizon Zero Dawn clone (or outright copyright theft?)
Light of Motiram by Chinese company Tencent. Even the music is similar...

"Tencent has announced a new open-world action-adventure title that seemingly blends Guerrilla Games' Horizon series on PlayStation with Pocketpair's controversial survival game Palworld. Light of Motiram, developed by Tencent subsidiary Polaris Quest, looks eerily similar to Horizon games, down to tameable mechanical animals — called “Mechanimals”. Like Horizon, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic wilderness teeming with mechanical beasts. Light of Motiram, however, introduces survival and crafting elements akin to Palworld."
