How many airmiles do you have?

I have just over 4000 Air Miles. I've already used it for two round-trip flights to Montreal and a few movie passes.

What I do is I use my credit card for everything. BMO Gold MasterCard. I rack up a ton of points at Shell locations, pay all bills, shopping, etc. Pretty much everything I use it. It's not hard to keep track of spending on a credit card.

I'm also a GOLD member now, so I get some pretty wicked discounts too.

How many of you collect them? I used to and sometimes still do pickup my perscriptions at safeway and I've amased 23,241k points. I got enough for a new washer and dryer and I'm really thinking about getting them what do you think? Also anyone ever go on a trip using air miles if so how much did it cost and how far, did they pay hotels and such like that, just wondering.

Prolly around 400 right now.
I always turn my miles into Rona gift certificates as I found it's the best "$ per airmile" the program has to offer.

Not many now. Whenever I go over around 1500 or so I cash them out for Sobey's (groceries) gift certificates (used to be the best $/point ratio...though I think it has changed recently). I consider those gift cards as cash (since I know I need groceries) and spend the equivalent amount on gifts for house/wife/kids/me etc. Last I checked there was a $400 camera, but I could use the same amount of points to get $600 in gift cards. I think all the gift cards are same $/point now (though I haven't checked in a few months).

Dont have too many actual Airmiles points, but I usually collect miles from whatever airline i'm flying with (i fly quite often between the UK and Canada, and internally in the UK for work). So at the moment, im sitting at 12,000 Air Canada Aeroplan miles, 28,000 BA Miles, and about 400 airmiles.

For airmiles redemption I find its often better value for money to book other things rather than flights (as you still have to pay the taxes :( ). For the airline miles, I generally use them for an upgrade rather than booking a flight right out - 20,000 miles gets me an upgrade on BA on a transatlantic route. Whereas I'd have to pay 40,000 miles + tax for a reward flight across the atlantic.

Out of curiosity, anyone else had hilarious names printed on their airmiles.ca card? Mines came addressed to Shuan Camel lol

Used 30,000 Air miles 2 yrs ago for a round trip flight to Mexico (Victoria - Zihuatanejo), right now sitting on 90,000 Air miles....MBNA Alaska Air Lines! 100K gets you a round trip flight Vancouver to Thailand in Business Class on Cathay or 45K gets you a Round Trip flight Victoria to Mexico 1st Class.....I'm an Air miles hoarder!!!!

I have a friend who puts 50k a month through his Visa. He currently has enough airmiles to get 2 people 25 times around the world.

Aeroplan > air miles

525k aeroplan miles this year alone, and counting... 150k of those earned by actually sitting on a plane :( That's enough for my wife and I to fly around the world in first class, twice.

Get an aeroplan number and an aeroplan Visa or Amex - the points and rewards you will accumulate will dwarf any air miles plan you can find.
