How to build a PC according to the Verge...

Not to read too much into the lack of knowledge, but it is a flaw of our "it's good enough" culture.

There were clearly many points in the video where he just didn't even know the terms for the parts he was interacting with, let alone the correct way to do something. But I see it so often where people don't want to actually learn something. They just want to get by. But words matter, definitions matter, the right way to do something even if it is harder and takes more effort does matter!

OK... there I'm done ;)

I watched the Science Studio version as you can no longer see the Verge one and holy crap. The Verge should be damn ashamed of themselves, what absolute garbage the guy was spewing most the time....

Yup, it was really bad. I mean, $2000 in computer parts and couldn't spring for a real screwdriver.

Good thing he had the "tweezers"!

I really like the effort they put into cable management... Or the missing screw for the CPU cooler.... Or the disregard about the motherboard manual for where to put your ram.

The worst part was the thermal paste. Not only did he used way too much thermal paste he also didn't remove the thermal paste on the CPU cooler and gave misleading info. Mixing thermal paste also isn't good.

Also anybody else remember the "anti static" wrist band he put on? That wouldn't do anything. While it is good advice he didn't use proper equipment.

I dont like to slag reviewers... but I dont consider him a reviewer. So I honestly think he is not an idiot. He is an entitled, arrogant idiot who should not be doing the job he was hired for.

We all make mistakes. Not taking ownership for the mistake and blaming it on 'racism' just nuked any credibility the verge had. Admittedly that was not much to begin with (as the Verge and their parent company VOX are not held in high esteem by me)... but dayaammm.

He really is the epitome of what is wrong with the 'everyone is a winner' school system. Whomever hired him should be fired right along with him. Neither should be talking about things they have no clue about AND no interest in learning about.

For the record I dont care if he is black. I dont care if he is a metro-sexual / pan-sexual / whatever (I assume that once the race card fails they pull that one next). He has no business being in the position he is in. He needs a couple years more experience before even being considered for the job he has. Its a job. A job he is just not qualified to do.
