This was discovered by info spotted from Asrock.

How long did it take for DDR4 to show it was outperforming DDR3? I wonder how soon DDR5 will start to outperform DDR4 as right now it's pretty even.

Dunno DDR4 still wins a set of 3600 CL16 beats any DDR5 speeds + timings I can walk into MemEx and pickup right now. I'm sure there are DDR5 timings / CL speeds that are faster than these but I limited it to what was on the shelf in stock at any memory express I didn't even limit it to only edmonton memory express locations.

So to get close to a set of 3600 CL16 DDR5 would need the following timings

2x16GB of 6200 CL 36 ~= $600 (fastest option that is still slower)
2x16GB of 3600 CL 16 ~= $200
2x16GB of 4000 CL 18 ~= $200
so it fails at price to performance too

@Izerous yep...that's why the comment on how I wonder when DDR5 will begin to show it's superiority.

I'm betting a part of the issue is the lack of optimization in current software...no doubt it will become important when the faster PCIe standards come and need more available horsepower all around.
