MacBook Neo

According to this, the Neo 2 is coming sooner than expected. Then we have Intel into the fray.

But with all the AI induced hardware shortages, the rise of gas/oil prices, disruption of supply lines, I wonder how bad this could get.

The MacBook Neo 2 has officially been unveiled, introducing a range of upgrades designed to address the limitations of its predecessor while enhancing performance, usability, and storage. With a focus on meeting the evolving needs of modern users, this next-generation laptop promises to deliver a more seamless and efficient computing experience.

my meeting the evolving needs of modern users....I'm guessing a 64GB SSD and 2 or 4GB of RAM? :ROFLMAO:

edit - yes, I read the article and know it's basically got the specs the Mac Mini Neo is supposed to have. A19 Pro CPU, 12GB RAM and not only a doubling of the SSD capacity, but also a doubling of the SSD read / write performance.

I wonder if they've figured a way to shoehorn older DDR4 memory to help keep costs down. also, faster SSD can be nice, but this is not a productivity machine, so if going with SATA speed SSD's help keep prices down, I'm game. I do find it funny how most of the wording in that article makes it sound like this is supposed to be a productivity machine. I don't doubt it can do some stuff, being MacOS is optimized so well for the hardware given, but 12GB of RAM is still going to be a serious choke point.

edit 2 - now I am really hoping this will light a fire under the OEM's and their Windows / ChromeOS options as 512GB SSD and 12GB RAM will suffice for the 99 percentile.
