These connectors need to go away, or have a reduced official capacity. AMD doesn’t mandate it like nvidia, but it’s an option. After a year in use, this user started having crashes and found this lovely nugget when troubleshooting:

It's no secret that NVIDIA GPUs have had a habit of burning up 12vHPWR and 12V-2x6 connectors, but increasingly, reports are emerging of the same thing happening to AMD's Radeon GPUs running the same connectors. The latest report of such burned connectors come from a user on r/Radeon on Reddit...

Have you seen the shifted connectors engineered that way on purpose but ASUS so they fail spectacularly?

My theory now is that the design tolerance is so low that any manufacturing quality issue makes them ticking fire balls. We do see similar stuff like this in Molex, especially the converter plugs (thick 4 pin to SATA for example). When you have to tell the end user to avoid bending the cable a certain way, then you probably have a design issue. There's no way to account for all kinds of case design and how people route their cables. Not everyone runs an expensive case with proper routing channels built in.

Nvidia used it's ai to design a cable as feable as the Note 7.

my Hellhound 9070XT has 2x8pin couldnt be happier ppl saying the 9070XT Doesnt draw enough power to melt hahahahahahahahaha its not about that its the connectors purpose to melt i wouldnt be surprised if it melted on a 5050 6gb ddr4 gpu lol

its the standard itself cablemod stopped doing warranties during the 4000 series it became to costly im assuming. its the embodiment of the Samsung Note 7 in a connector.

Interesting comment in this Reddit post, they said the OP using the ModDIY should of use 3x8pin adapter instead of 2x8pin to drive the 5080 as the adapter is max out at 300W while the card needs 360W. Damn Ampinel power balancer is always sold out.
