I do use a ps2 kb primarily, and the problem started while using a ps2 kb. Pretty sure mobo is no longer under warranty as the PC is about 2.5 yrs old.

To be honest, I haven't really touched it in a week or so, as I had it working fine for about 4 days, then it randomly froze and then wouldn't boot back up again.

this happened to me earlier this week (new build though), the only fix that worked (and believed me, i tried every damn thing) was a mobo replacement.

Go into the BIOS and search for the USB / Peripheral options. Ensure USB Legacy Support and all general USB options are enabled.

If this happened after a PS/2 peripheral was plugged in, the BIOS probably reset itself to only recognize non-USB input devices.

Use the PS/2 keyboard to get into the BIOS. Change the settings. Shut Down. Plug in the USB devices. Restart.

how can he navigate the bios without a monitor?

Well, I did another CMOS clear and got the rig to boot up. Not sure what is different this time. Hopefully it runs on a more permanent basis this time! Thanks for the help guys, and I hope to not have to bug you again!
