Mouse recommendations for claw grip? I think...

I ordered one of a G305. Thanks for the reminder! Can't beat the $49 CAD on sale to test out my theory. I'll give Logitech another try.

Thanks all for the input!

The Shroud looked good too, but I actually prefer a swappable rechargeable battery rather than having to plug it in to charge, so I decided against the Shroud.
Nice. I assume you gave your kids g305 a use before you pulled the pin?

Little bit yes. It is a decent mouse for sure, for the price. Plus I wanted to try a smaller mouse given the grip I use, so that was a relatively cheap option to rule out a bunch of things. Plus 2% Rakuten from Logitech! 😁

MZ1 does have a wireless version, and that version has a changeable back hump unlike the initial wired version.

Razer Viper Mini wired is discontinued, replaced by the Viper Cobra wired. It's a direct upgrade though with better feet and better LOD - currently OOS due to BF sales. This has become a legendary claw mouse - it's cheap and really good. The only reason to consider something else is if you don't want wired or the shape is just a bit too weird for you.

Endgame Gear is well known in the enthusiast community, but rarely ever used by the general populace OR pros. They aren't big enough to be in the general conversation, and pros want access to reliable, comfortable "good enough" things they can replace quickly if need be. They are part of a much larger brand though - The XM2we is "Wireless Essential", effectively the cheaper version of the XM2W which still hasn't come out, or in other words the wireless version of the wired XM1.

The GProWired/G203/G305 shape is one of my two favourites, the only thing I've found that is somewhat similar for my grip has been the OP1we from Endgame Gear actually. I love the G305 to the point that I have 3 of them around me as I type this, one modified with the Enncoo Mag Charger Kit battery mod.

If you end up not liking the G305 - maybe it's too small - then consider the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed. Significantly different shape than the previous regular Viper/Viper V2 Pro - much like what they did with Deathadder V3 vs older ones. "Hyperspeed" denotes that it uses AA batteries, so similar to the G305 since that sounds like your preference.

If you're okay with wired, but want something bigger than the Viper Mini/Cobra wired, I'd suggest checking out the Roccat Burst Pro. It goes on sale a lot and is still excellent to this day. Only consideration is heavy optical switches. Ignore the wireless version, it's bad in a lot of ways, including how it performs. From what I remember the product manager left Roccat after the wired version and Turtle Beach has been doing weird things with the Roccat brand ever since.

There's a ton of other mice in the space these days from lesser known brands at varying price points. Lamzu (Atlantis/Atlantis Mini/Maya), Ninjutso (Sora 4K), and Fantech (Helios II Pro XD3 V3) are 3 examples. There's even some really good ones you can grab from Aliexpress now for cheap, but you aren't going to have any warranty if you get a dud.

For people that are visual, youtuber "AimAdapt" has excellent videos that show actual spinning disc comparsions of a lot of these mice against each other.

I didn't catch this in time, but for anyone else (sorry Lysrin) if you order things from Logitech directly use code SHROUD - it's pretty much always active and stacks with existing sales. Sometimes DRLUPO will work as well but Shroud's is better.

No problem but thanks! Good to know. Tested it, would have been an extra $5 off the G305, but better on more expensive items. Cool!

Just wanted to follow up on this. Been using the G305 for several days now and I am really liking it. I think the finger placement vs the buttons was exactly my issue. I haven't had the original problem with this mouse at all.

It's a very light mouse, which takes some getting used to, but I guess for my hand with large palm, shorter fingers it's the right answer!

TL;DR: Do you guys have any recommendations for a wireless mouse you've found good for a more claw grip position?

I'm on my second Logitech wireless mouse, first the G602 and now the G604, and they appear to be having the same issue that is starting to point the finger back at me rather than a mechanical problem.

The left click button performance is inconsistent, and tends to drop especially when I am clicking and holding to drag items. Very annoying when organizing files and emails and you don't know where the email actually dropped!

I thought on the G602 that it was old enough that the mouse button was just failing. But the G604 is not very old and I am having the same issue. I noticed that my hand position naturally ends up being closer to a claw grip, and that got me thinking that perhaps the mouse button action is designed to be pressed more from a palm position where you'd be clicking the button farther towards the forward end of the button rather than where I normally end up, middle to the back. Hopefully you can follow that.

I did Google of course and a top one from RTings.com is the Endgame Gear XM2we (https://www.rtings.com/mouse/reviews/endgame-gear/xm2we#page-top) and that might be worth trying, but I've never heard of it before.

UPDATE: I noticed that perhaps my periods of dropped mouse clicks could be coincident with the 100% drive use periods I see on the OS drive. I need to get that cloned on the new WD NVMe to see if that resolves this 100% usage spikes. Could be I'm looking in the wrong direction, but do still provide your mouse opinions!
It is most likely a mechanical issue. Those mice are notorious for terrible short lived switches. I know I have two G604's and have had switches start to fail on both and it does that same kind of thing you described along with not recognizing clicks, giving double clicks when not wanted and crap like that. I fixed my latest one by tearing it down and replacing the switches with Kailh GM 4.0 switches. Been great since.

So if you still like the G604 for feel and number of buttons then I suggest doing the switch swap. Be warned it is not the simplest swap but nothing too extreme.

Certainly an option, but I am very pleased with the $49 fix of the G305 for now :)

Thanks for that suggestion though! I was distracted by work when I posted that last comment and it seems a bit abrupt on re-read!
