I have a g305 for my son, which ticks all the boxes except it is wireless. I am very happy with that (it is a bit of a smaller mouse, but I think it is fine).

And as others have said, I think the g203 is the same mouse, but adds a wire and rgb, but otherwise should be a great bang for buck mouse if you can live with turning the RBG off.

Logitech G502 corded. (Hero?) It covers your needs except for software. But I think the profile data is stored on the mouse.

Microsoft is still making standard mice, and they've always been solid. The 'MS Intellimouse Classic' and the 'MS Ergonomic Mouse' are both pretty basic and reliable.

The G502 Hero operates without software, it is optional. The G logo does light up though it changes based on the DPI settings along with the 3 tick marks just beside the left lcick. The 3 ticks turn off a few moments after you change the DPI though.

The only thing I think the software does it let you change what the DPI pre-sets are and change some of the extra button functionality. But it works as a standard mouse without all of that.

I ended up buying 2 one for home (white) and one for the office (black).

Ok.. reporting back as I bought the G203 and while its been a good mouse and the onboard mode works well and does what I need... the one gripe I have is the side buttons.

If you have the GHub software open you can make it so these buttons do not work and aren't active which is what I like in certain things because its easy for me to accidentally hit them and go backwards in a web browser.

So in order for me to use this mouse in onboard mode I have to run a 2nd program called X-Mouse Button Control which will permanently disable these from being used.

So basically set the basic parameters I need for the mouse, disable GHub and run X-Mouse button for the best of all worlds.
