My Dream Build....Please post your advice

Wow.... that's $ 4600 before taxes right there! Nice one....

I would change a few things here and there.... but if you like this setup... Go for it! That will be a killer rig! We obviously want to see pics!

Please tell me that you're not using this pc exclusively for WoW

For almost 5k I could have the down payment for a nice car.

hard drives...you wont be needing 2TB unless u work for some movie company, get the new 15000rpm drives or 2 512GB solid states($1500 a pop!)The price adder.
but if those are expensive, get the WD Black 1TB
and as for CPU, if you're serious on buying this set-up get the i7 920, if not add the i7 975

Its so easy to spend others $$$....I'd love to put this together though...those 2 x 295 Reds would look hot, particularly with a backdrop of Corsair GT 1866 RAM modules!!

The v10 is not good tek those. Good Peltier cooling requires many watts and water cooling to work good. A peltier overloaded = disaster which this likely will have if you plan on OCing.

Also the hx1000 might have problem with this build if the person overclocks. The hx1000 consists of 2 40A rails. The gtx295 take about 300w to run, thats 25A right there. The the v10 takes 70 watts, thats another 6A there, This doesn't leave much for a highly overclocked cpu core i7, which can take another 20A.

I have read consistent Posts that the Peak Power of the HX 1kW is actually around 1.1kW.....the thing really is a beast, after seeing my Rig running onthis PSU I would have no doubts the "Dream Build" would be fine...2 x 295's draw less power than 3 x 280's...

Is there anyway to shrink the cost of this system but remain a very potent gaming rig.

You bet!
12GB of RAM for a gaming rig is ridiculous. Go for 6.
Not crazy about the cooler. I'd suggest either a TRUE 120/Thor's Hammer/NH-U12P.
I'd go with the black version of that hard drive, since you're looking for the best performance.
Two GTX 295s seem very excessive, but hey, it's your money.
Interesting choice of sound card. All they did was slap Fatal1ty's name on it and raise the price by $50. I'd suggest the Asus Xonar
Other than that, it looks good.
