My journey to The Fives by Klipsch

To stain it would have needed to change the assembly a little bit I think to get the best effect with miter joints and other complications. Probably assemble upside down with pocket screws and glue holding on the tops. And to enforce the miter joints in doweling and other options are now far more complicated exposed biscuits/splines for reinforcement (preferably in a different species of wood for contrast).

At that point a 4x4 hollowed out with a forstner bit might actually be easier than all the jointery to make the column part... it gets super complicated fast if your trying to make it come out really nice like that
can you explain jointery? is that cutting a 45 degree angle off one side so they are flush (hopefully after some sanding, etc) at the corners? I get that it may be more involved than that example...but curious.

Jointary just being the many ways you can join wood, rabbit, box, spine etc.

45 miters and spines in part due to simplicity is how I'd try it
