new camera

i went down to the harbour a couple hours before sunrise this morning, eager to try out my "new" camera and the damn clouds and random fog screwed those plans up. i was hoping to get some night shots of the city skyline, but that was a fail, stupid weather. i did see a tugboat though, in the darkness that was lit by only the light standard on the dock.

Pretty good shot. I am going to assume your shooting in raw mode. Also what software did you use to do the PP.

editing PS CS5 64 bit.

so i bought a wide angle zoom (17-40 f/4 L USM ) and i'm really seeing the crap on my sensor. nice lens, dirty camera! in this pic i highlighted some of it, and cropped a bunch out:

i tried some air but am kind of leery of doing a wet clean(alcohol). has anybody given it a go?

i wouldn't feel comfortable doing a wet cleaning on a 5d. You might be better off taking it to a professional to get it cleaned. I think companies like henry's, vistek, etc offer professional cleaning services.

As for the picture you can always clone out those spots in PS

i would'nt let my fingers do the walking for this. i'd need some references from happy customers.

i agree with that. If it were me i would also be cautious. But i would rather have a pro do it then for me to try to do it and wreck the camera.
