new camera

CS5 is worth the price...especially if you can find it on sale.

The pics are not half bad. Too much sharpening and overly saturated but not bad. Its probably the default of the software as peeps seem to want "vibrant" shots. Rather than accurate ones. :)

Pick up a SpyderCube for 80 bucks or spend a couple bills for a light meter. Then your colours will be PERFECT.
YMMV

guys seem to be forgetting about light room. The latest version has a ton of features. I would consider checking them out. And since you can download a 30 day trial if you don't like it then there is no impact tot he pocket book. Nice choice on camera BTW. Now just get some more L lens'

i'm looking at lenses and it looks like $1200 for a decent sharp 24-105mm( f/4 L IS USM) . damn, this is getting expensive.

found a pretty good review of what i want.

Yes it does. Tip if you get a tripod/monopod you can usually get away with non-is lens' which will save a ton of cash in the long run.

so, shameless plug here. although i have'nt done much with the new camera, i've setup a new website and threw a bunch of my older pics on it just to see the layout. can i get your opinion?

Epic Developements

IMO, Gimp doesn't even scratch the surface of Photoshop's options.

NVM: can you shoot videos with that sweet camera?

I second this i have used the gimp and while it is powerful it is no where as powerful as the latest iteration of photoshop. Plus the interface is much more confusing then photo shop. Also IIRC i don't think the MKII can shoot video i believe that feature was added to the latest iteration of the 1d the MK III. Personally i have my eyes on the 7D but need to save up. a 5d or 1d would be nice but then most of my lenses would not work with it.

to NVM: Nice website. the main page layout is very silck. not a big fan when you go to blow up an image though.

N.V.M.: i also think it's a nice site, but i cannot pass any judgment on quality of images, as they're only about 4 x 4 in.; but they do seem nice.

as i mentioned, they're just some of my older pics from other cameras to test out the layout, so essentially, they're just temporary content fillers.
when you click on an image on the main page, it takes you to the post page, where again you click on the image, and it'll expand to full size.

and Synth, no video. and even the lcd screen can not be used to preview/frame a shot, only the viewfinder can be used. (although i can look at the shot after its taken through the lcd.)
