Yeah I've been looking at those. Likewise, I've been keeping an eye out for X2000 sales, but the lowest I've seen thus far is $499, but in the USA it's down to $399.If you haven't taken the plunge yet, there is some nice new Denon models coming.
7.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD A/V Receiver with Bluetooth and WIFI
These new models will also induce good sale prices on old model inventory.
I have an older Denon 2310 for surround and an Anthem 225 for music and am very happy with them both.
Good deal, though I have my reservations about buying a product that's 2yr old from the get-go...Another option I just found out about is the Pioneer SC-1227-K. It's a Best Buy (and Future Shop as they are owned by the same company) exclusive and is actually an Elite model even though it's not advertised as such. For the pice you won't beat it.
Sale ends on the 1st of July so you would need to get it quick.

Not really, Atmos is mostly for theatre use and don't think it's really going to make any difference for home users with 5.1 or 7.1. It may be helpfull if you have more speakers though. There is an excellent thread about it on the Emotiva forum (not sure if you have to register or not).

We won't really know until it's released but my guess is it's just a selling point rather than something that's going to make a big difference in sound quality for your home theater.
Oh yes, it's absolutely useless for people that are sticking with 5.1 or 7.1 (actually perhaps I am wrong there too).
I haven't even experienced an Atmos movie yet, but it seems to be pretty amazing from what I've read. I am possibly rebuilding the home theatre room this year. If there's an appreciable difference vs the standard 5.1 and 7.1 I'd wire the room for a potential 7.2.2 or 7.2.4 system.
I'm already running 9.1 (front heights), but that doesn't seem to do much.
Anything over 5.1 is generally useless for home audio as most movies aren't encoded for more than that and the rest is just simulated which is why you generally don't hear any difference.
