Nexus 5

Always on listening and 32GB, thats what I'm excited for. And a slightly better camera since the N4s one is garbage. As for custom roms, paranoid android is my favorite.

I'm finding myself not quite enjoying Paranoid Android that much anymore, haven't looked into other roms yet but don't know if I'll stick with it much longer. The killer is the fact my ringer and my notifications are linked together even when they aren't supposed to (unlinked) and the developers have no idea how to fix it, as it happens to me on several revisions of the rom.

I bought one, thankfully no play store issues like last year but the thing is still sold out totally and it didn't take long.

And barely better than the nexus 4? Huh?? They improved almost everything

What do you expect from a $350 phone?

My point is the difference between the 4 and 5 isn't worth all the crazyness.

There was quite a bit of hype around this phone (which to me hardware-wise, looks quite solid and a reasonable upgrade over the Nexus 4). I do agree that the hype in the mobile tech community was a bit over the top.

I can guess that much of the hype is due to the fact that Nexus releases are tied to new Android releases.

Which makes no sense because I'm currently running Android 4.3 on my Galaxy S2 :P And I'm sure when the time comes I'll be running 4.4 unless I have a new phone by then.

I snagged a 32GB in black shortly after the 2PM EST launch. I happened to take lunch late today so I had to buy it over my phone after some of my friends messaged me saying it was available. Thankfully it worked fine in Chrome and didn't redirect me to the Play Store app.

It looks like a fairly significant upgrade over the N4, from what I've been reading, it feels much nicer in the hand too which will be greatly welcomed. The N4 wasn't the most ergonomic to me.

My ship date estimate is Nov 5, so maybe I'll have it by the end of next week.

Damn. I was hoping they would have a lower 8 GB model. Would be interested in an used N4 assuming it's not stolen and not tinted by the memories of selfie junk shots.

Pretty much everything they could upgrade they did, sure it might not be worth all the craziness but other than the camera and maybe removable storage (which google said wouldn't happen) how much better could it actually be? What were you expecting? The second coming?

It is a phone with specs comparable to every other high end phone that has come out and costs half the price. I don't understand what there is to be so down about, it is hard to find used phones at that price.
