Nexus 5

While (as I have said) the hype is unwarranted, I do honestly believe that the Nexus 5 is an upgrade over the 4 though enab besides the processor. Consider:
- better camera
- higher quality screen
- LTE
- Wireless ac
- 32gb available

So besides the processor, there are other advantages that I think add up to a superior phone over the N4. Looks like the battery life is only going to be OK right now, if preliminary reviews prove accurate, but looks to be no worse than N4 battery life.

Google Nexus 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S4: Spec comparison | ITProPortal.com

You'll see that almost point for point there is LITTLE difference between the Nexus 5 and the Galaxy S4. Yes its a better processor and GPU but:

The S4 has a larger screen; The S4 has smaller pixel density
The S4 does not have LTE but would people really notice? Probably not.
The S4 has Wireless AC
The S4 is upgradeable to 64GB of ram

Oops...I thought the conversation was about the Nexus 4...not the Galaxy S4. My bad :) Alcohol obviously kills brain cells.

In that case, I agree! Galaxy S4 is a better phone IMO than the Nexus 5 :)

To add to my post above (one of which contradicts the camera performance I read about today), here is a decent review by the Verge:
Nexus 5 review | The Verge

Here is an Androis Centra article that is brand new and focuses on the battery, again not flattering, but comparable to the N4 as guessed:
Nexus 5 battery life first impressions: Good enough, but not great | Android Central

Here is a positive review of the camera:
Nexus 5 camera samples and first impressions | Android Central

Of your links... From the first one:
BAD STUFF
The camera is frustratingly hit or miss
Battery life was inconsistent
Hardware design is unexciting

N4 vs N5 .. Yes better phone I'll agree. Worth all the hype and the upgrade? No.

People of the Android world used to laugh and mock the people of the Apple world when Apple released a new phone. Now the silly bastards of the Android world are doing it to themselves.

OHHHHH how the times have changed.

Its consumerism as its worst. Flaming based on products people like.

Now, if this were an off-contract discussion, the conversation turns to the following:

$650-$700 for a new Galaxy S4, vs. $350-400 for the Nexus 5. $700 for an iPhone 5S, $600 for the 5c?

Off-contract I think the Nexus is hands-down winner. You can shop around for used deals but that is not really a fair discussion right now as the S4 has had a head start in the used market.

Mocking. But I guess you're a stats guy. "Oh shit, I have a 0.05" larger screen with the S4. Surely it's better."

I'm not a stats guy.. but when it clearly states that the screen size is bigger on the S4 than the N5 that is just fact. The pixel count is obviously smaller on the S4 which also makes the screen look bigger because as you increase the pixel density on a phone EVERYTHING gets larger.
