Updated my 6P to Android 8.0 tonight. So far it is very... the same :haha: Supposed to be more of an under-the-hood set of improvements this time I believe, but I haven't explored much yet.

However I was pleased that my 6P was still on the update path. Nice to get at least one more official update for it as I am still very happy with it and plan to keep it for a while yet.

Unless you know... the Pixel 2 really knocks my socks off! Or the Essential Phone... or...

I've decided I'll buy the Pixel 2 assuming it isn't massively terrible. My 6P is getting pretty worn out, the glass along the right side is starting to lift and the battery life is no where what it used to be. I've had it since launch though, so I don't think it's really a big issue.

I simply cannot give up the Google HDR+ camera magic. I'm impressed with some of the shots I get while out hiking with it. Even indoor/night shots turn out pretty good with the noise reduction it's able to do.

I absolutely agree about the camera. The 6P/HDR+ combo takes the best pictures I have ever taken with a phone. I frequently show pics to people have them say "You took THAT with your phone?!" It is nice to have something in your pocket readily available that's quite fast and does justice to a scene on the spur of the moment.

I'll be eyeing the Pixel 2 also, not because I need to replace my 6P yet really (not as worked in as yours sounds), just because I do like having up to date Google stuff and if the camera is even better than the 6P and the original Pixel that might sway me. But I would also like a 1080 Ti so have to choose wisely! lol

No issues with my 6P battery at all. Also, didn't know so many others liked the Nexus line. That being said, I liked Nexus phones because they were cheap... the Pixel will be a hard pass for me - just too damn expensive.
I may be looking at a OnePlus or similar phone for my next one, but even just using a crappy $4 case my 6P is still in excellent condition and should last me at least another year or two.

If the Pixel 2 XL has water resistance (and wireless charging) I'll be tempted. Right now the V30 looks to be my next phone if the rumoured secs are right.

I could part with the wireless charging if the V30 ends up being a dud and Google adds the water resistance though. I hate having to wait months for updates (I've used LG stuff before, usually Samsung galaxy line).

Why do you guys need such high powered phones? What are you doing on them?

None of this is a matter of "need" MARSTG. You should know that by now!

For me I like fast smooth performance no matter what I am doing and a good fast camera. I have been pleased with 6P, and I bought mine nearly new on ebay so that helped with the price. The 6P wasn't a cheap Nexus new.

Why do I buy a 1080 Ti when a 1060 would suffice? :bleh:

For a device that gets used daily, I want something that works fast and feels solid in my hands.

Haha Marstg lets have a peek the forum users' system specs :)

I actually just want a phone with a bigger screen than my S7, without giving up any features. Dislike the curved screens and weird fingerprint sensor on the S8 series.

Plus, its a new gadget. :bananafunky:
