So, 480, 470, 465 were fail IMO. 460 is nice, 580 is damn good and now 570 is a really good performer at a decent price. Now! let's see AMD side! ahah I love GPU market

First of all great review, and yes this card looks awesome but I do have one question. Besides people like us who frequent websites like this, how many people actually buy powerful graphics cards anymore? I know that out of my circle of friends I have far and away the best PC out of all of them. I would think that the average joe would just go buy an Xbox 360 and accessories for the same amount of money as this graphics card. As for non gaming tasks like autocad I thought that was what Quaddro was for.
I completely agree except its only been a year for me :bleh: I may not post often but I love to read the personality put into the reviews. Like its been said if you want copy and paste reviews go to toms hardware.
Excellent card and a folding monster! Thanks again for including folding numbers in this review. Also very happy to see performance on those nasty WUs.
As for the perceived nVidia bias in the forums, I would agree that it is due to the folders doing a lot of chatter.
To be honest, before I started folding the vast majority of CPUs were AMD, and my GPUs were ATI. If these guys were to ever get even folding performance-wise, I would probably go back as i have a soft spot for these companies.

Yeah, NVidia pretty much solidified that most of the 400 series was a disappointment. The fact that they had no qualms killing off the 7-8 month old 480 with this card pretty much verifies that.

Just two little requests for future articles like this. Find currently available prices for the card and it's main competitors and quote them. Also, if you are going to OC the card, compare it to it's closest competitor also OC'd. You know, just to be fair and unbiased.
For example, I see 5870's available online for under $330, but you quote $400 as it's retail price. I see a GTX 570 for under $360 available online right now (both NCIX). Whatever their list prices or MSRPs are is irrelevant as this isn't what people will pay for them. Sure, I understand that you pretty much have to quote what the manufacturer tells you they are listed at, but you can supplement this info with actual retail prices.
My two bits.
Also, I know the 5870 isn't this card's actual competition, that will be the 5970 released on the 15th. Maybe you could incorporate these suggestions when you do this article next week.

Great review as always, and I do enjoy the "flare". It gets a chuckle going once in awhile which is nice, and something only geeks could appreciate so here's a virtual internet cookie for you SKY
The performance increase IMHO is quite excellent, considering that the 570 is significantly cooler and quieter than a 480, which has actually been dropping to the mid to low $300 price bracket after rebates.
I just recently bought a GTX 470 for $210 Canadian after conversion from a seller on Anandtech, and I in no way see any reason for me to upgrade despite the 30% increase over a stock GTX 470. I just recently bought a Gelid Icy 2 that I will slap on my 470 and give her a nice push.
I think I'm going to do a user review for it too, maybe.

Now here's hoping some GTX 470 owners take the plunge on one of these babies, and I can take the plunge on an SLI/Surround setup with a reasonably priced, second-hand 470. 
I had step up time still on my GTX 460 SC EE, so I went a head and chose the GTX 570 to step up to. Currently I'm #35 in queue. :biggrin:
