NVIDIA GTX 980Ti Performance Review Comment Thread

That's because most process tech these is geared towards low power applications (and with good reason), not the HP process required by GPUs.

I remain on the fence, I didn't feel the Titan X was a big enough upgrade from my GTX690, so this 980 Ti is no different. I feel I'd have to buy 2 to make it a noticeable impact.

I think I'm going to hold out until fall to see what AMD has to offer. At the very least, by then there should be lots of variants of the 980 Ti to chose from (mostly looking for the HydroCopper).

Maybe I should just hold out until Pascal next year :blarg:

It may be that Moore's Law itself is in trouble. 28nm has been said to be where the cost per transistor is the lowest.

Given the difficulties that Intel has had with 14nm, TSMC with 20nm, and reportedly Samsung with 14nm (yields are lower than expected), it probably isn't a surprise.

I think looking forward we'll see longer times spent on each node. That being said, the good news is that even without a die shrink, the performance per mm^2 is pretty good in terms of gains from Kepler to Maxwell.

Hopefully AMD has something good to respond with.

650$ USD is 810$ CND after doing a quick Bing Money conversion... My god how our dollar is so low haha. Now of course it would be nice if it was sold at 810$ but I'm guessing they'll be selling for 850-900$ here.

+ 13% tax in toronto = 915 bucks

Good review.

High price but to be expected, typical nvidia pricing.

At least they dropped the price on the 980 by $50.

I think it's safe to say these cards will be between $850 and $900 here in Canada as retailers try to protect themselves against any more currency fluctuations.

Yea, a little pricey but considering our dollar it is about where I was excepting.

And evga has jumped in completely on these and has 8 versions coming out. 2 with the default cooler, 4 with their ACX cooling and 2 water cooled options (standard hydro copper as well as the new hybrid). I want one but I just don't think the price is doable right now.
