So I've had my Shield for a couple of weeks and I'm pretty impressed. I'm coming from an original Nexus 7 and the Shield tablet is blazing fast compared to it. It's maybe 4 mm wider, so it still is an easy one hand device for reading which has been my main tablet use for the last 18 months. Now that my controller arrived today, I can see that my usage pattern is going to change drastically. The wireless controller is slick and easy to set up and use. And being able to Gamestream from my gamer upstairs is badass. My only complaint is that I actually have to start Steam and disable Family View on Steam manually before I can play some games in my library (but that's my fault, not Gamestream's. I've got it set up so my 5 year old can only see his Lego library and a couple other family friendly games).
I'm going to have to grab a mini-HDMI adapter or cable and try this out in console mode. I can easily see it replacing my PS3 in the living room which I use for playing media and a couple of exclusive games.
Oh, and the sound is roughly 400% better than my Nexus 7. The speakers are actually useable and provide a pretty decent range too.
Did you get the controller as well?
The LTE version has been released so I may go out and get that. Dmitry hogged all of our SHIELD Tablets.....![]()
I’ve got some pretty bad news for any of you who bought the NVIDIA Shield Tablet between July 2014 and July 2015. NVIDIA has announced a voluntary recall for devices sold during this period as they have discovered an issue with that batch of batteries. According to the release, the faulty batteries may overheat to the point of becoming a fire hazard! - See more at: RECALL!!! NVIDIA Recalling Bad Batch Of Shield Tablets - - Android in Canada Blog
