Palit HD4870 Review Comment Thread

Thanks for an awesome review Sky! I thought going the cheaper 4850 route would have been best but the 4870 looks too good to pass up!

Tell me about it!
I have a 3870X2. And im debating if i should pick up another 3870X2 and Crossfire it, or get 2x4870....hmmmm

Fantastic review on an amazing card for the money.

Now when are the 1 GB versions coming...512 MB doesn't cut it for my resolution.

Great review, man I just can't get over the temp differences after changing out the cooler. I am so tempted to snag some 4870s to replace this 3870X2, but I will wait for big brother in August and honestly I don't really like the scaling I saw with this 3870X2 so I am a little hesitant to try out some more XF, as well of course with the other issues that go with multi-gpu. I saw a comment on Anand about him talking about Crossfire "Sideport" on the 4870X2 and how it would improve scaling further, hopefully that is the case, as products past the 4870X2 will get that much better.

Did the Thermaltake Duorb cooler cover up any of the crossfire connectors, and did it drop the temps by much? Thanks :)

You've been a very busy little beaver for the last month SKY! Great review, looking forward to seeing what kind of OCs you can push out of it.

Thanks SKY, it was a pleasure (as always) to read your review. I like a lot that HR-03 GT (and AC S1 rev.2 for sure) is compatible with this card and performs very well, almost half of temperatures.
The card itself is amazing. Kudos to ATI for HD4870 and HD4850.

It's good to see AMD doing something right and putting out some great cards at excellent prices. It's too bad I bought an 8800GT a couple months ago.

Thanks for the fantastic review SKYMTL

Wow thanks sky, well done, appreciated.

Kudos ATi this was needed for AMD and make the Video card market even more interesting.

Question for you guys, According to what I read adound the web, the 3870X2 performance would be somewhere above the 4850 performance ? If so, it is still pretty decent.

With the prices of 3870 and 3870X2 hitting rock bottom I am tempted in getting either a second 3870X2 or a single 3870 and xfire with my current 3870X2...
