replacing hydrogen with deuterium supposedly makes these screens up to 30% brighter and using AI, can enhance how deep the blacks are and how accurate the colors are. support Dolby Vision, HDR10 and 10+, comes with HDMI 2.1 w/120hz refresh. I don't care for the Android TV bit, but the 70w 2.1 speaker system caught my eye attention.

no pricing has been released, but they will come in 48", 55", 65" and 77" sizes.

color me curious!!!

Well, I just bought this OLED. I heard they (LG) will be coming out with a newer brighter OLED tech in Quarter 3-4 maybe. I think my TV is bright enough, but maybe it will be enough of an improved to upgrade.

you bought one of these? they're not available yet...pricing hasn't even been released.

Might be good, but Phillips hasn't been a decent name in TVs in decades. As far as I know they're much like RCA where they slap their label on some 3rd party's poorly made TV and rely on their legacy.

In this instance I can't see why anyone would by the Phillips skin when it's an LG panel anyway, may as well get the LG version and have actual support/updates for a few years.

I took a Phillips TV off someone not too long ago and man was it so poorly designed and limited... Also had issues with HDCP negotiation. The unit is probably 5-6 years old but the protocol is more ancient than the device and should be fine.

Sony is releasing some decent models this year which I think will reign king since Samsungs refresh is a bit of a joke, just upgraded processors basically.

More like 18 months.

You'll get feature updates while the model is still their new product. But once the new series are out updates are cut way back.
I still get updates for my 3-5 year old Oleds, but I'd assume they're all security or maintenance updates, I suspect you're right that features are basically only worked on until the next model is out. Planned obsolescence is definitely a problem, but I'd guess Phillips' support is even worse.

I've been considering a pellet smoker with a 'smart' fuction for temps and monitoring, but can't help but wonder how long they'll really work with smartphones and apps...
