Question about XFX 8800 Ultra

1680 x 1050, One of my friends has one. Can play pretty much every game with decent settings and res.

:haha:

For real?

And here I am with my gtx 260 struggling at 1680x1050.

A mild overclocked 8800GT(675mhz) will match a 8800ultra under 1600x1200 and comes really close to the ultra at 1920x1200. Given that the game is not a memory hog.

My XFX Ultra is still getting 100 fps average on MW2 and 80 on L4D2 at max settings. :o
Don't have many newer games to compare it to though.

Don't forget the 8800GT are pretty old. Back then, the drivers weren't that good and dual GPU gaming wasn't that good. However I still recommend one GPU over SLI and Crossfire setup.

At 1680X1050, I think a 8800 Ultra can take on any game at max or high settings. There's only a couple that wouldn't be able to run em at that kinda setting I believe.

I suggest you put your head back where it belongs!

I wonder why people always comparing between a second cheap 8800gt for sli or a single gtx 280.

And I am SHURE your the only one that has own more then one 8800 series card.

5ilvgearx quits and uninstall HWC.

:rofl::haha:

Well I have both and have friends with both and the 8800GT while a very good GPU is not even close to the 8800 Ultra. Oh yes you can overclock a 8800 GT but the same can be done with the Ultra. Bringing the old OC argument is the weakest argument.

My friend upgraded from a 8800 Ultra to a GTX 260 and it was an upgrade but wasn't THAT massive of a jump. He could play all his games at decent settings at 1680 x 1050 but now he can play them all maxed. So I don't know how you are struggling unless you have extreme AA, or are over exaggerating except for a few titles.

Yes the Clock speeds don't mean Jack whe comparing a 8800 GTX / Ulta to a GT.....the former blows the latter out of the water!! Thier was reason why the GTX / Ultra's were $500 - $600 compared to a $250 GT back in the day and it was a lot more then Core speeds. Compare the Core Processors and Bandwidth....

Making me quote myself eh! :haha:

Performance is all different between the resolution played at. I did not say the 8800GT is superior than the ultra, who would be so retarded to even say that? Its just to show there are better alternative out there.

Now lets see a stock clocked 8800GT vs a stock 8800GTX

And the best part baby!

And extra whooping of 118Watts just to run a 8800GTX, now think of it running overclocked. :haha:

And DAMN talk about 8800GTX giving the 8800GT an A$$ rape! Hold on! Wait a minute its pretty damn close. No wonder nvidia had such a winner for the past 3 generation. :bleh::haha:

Damn I miss the good old days where people were only getting 4K ppd and it was like HOLY CRAP! :haha:

And Yes Core speed does mean something when its played at lower resolutions. Isn't that why people choose to buy video cards depending on there screen resolution? So they can choose to play there favorite games on the resolution they like?

The 8800 Ultra WAS a great card. No sense worshipping it tho. At $80 it's a good price.
