Recommendation for mid-range (price) desktop mic for PC use

I'm a BBlue Yeti guy, but the Seiren Mini V3 should be a perfectly reasonable solution. And if you're digging in to software solutions anyway, then it may be the way to go for saving money.

And there is a threaded hole in the bottom to mount it onto a boom arm. You may need an adapter.

There's a boom on Amazon specifically for Blue Yeti mics.
I haven't had good luck with those open spring booms. They tend to fall apart on me, and the springs get loose. Although maybe I just have bad luck?

I bought one of these and I'm very happy with it. It's a bit more pricey, but the quality is far superior.

Sorry guys, but.. No. Overhead boom mic arms are Not useful, and Im sick of seeing every YTer and streamer out ther using massive overhead arms and blocking vision all over the place.

I have tried and returned so many arms, mounts and adapters over the past few years that I think I'm sorta well-versed on the subject now. And I found the Perfect one!

I'll share this with you guys, but sshhhh you gotta keep it a secret okay? For HWC eyes Only!... watch it get shared literally everywhere by tomorrow haha.

Here it is, a DSLR arm, with *Geared joints*, that can hold even my heavy as heck Shure SM7b and is dam solid:

Holds pretty much everything, comes with 1/4 adapter, and geared joints means it can hold really heavy things Anywhere you need them! Especially: NOT hanging in front of any screens! Theres also a version with a double height first section if you do want to overhang something.

Be warned HWC, if this info gets out... uh... gimme credit? Haha IDK 🤣👍🤘

Enjoy! Hope to see it in all your desk photos from now on! Lol

To each their own. My son's boom arm is mounted to the side far enough that it's basically flat when in use so doesn't block the screen, and pushes right out of the way when not in use. i.e. when I'm gaming :D

Indeed! But mics always do work the best when directly pointed at the mouth. So running a mic off to the side means higher gain, possible ambient noises leaking in, etc. Most won't care about that stuff, but I do 🤷‍♂️. Musician background.

I think @SugarJ is meaning it's set up the same/similar as mine:

Not only does this not block my vision at all, but it's essentially right at my mouth level. So the clarity of voice is amazing as I'm speaking directly in to it. And when it's not in use, I simply swing it to the side and out of the way:

I'm on the phone and in meetings all the time for work. This config has been far superior to anything else I've found. Mic is off the desk (freeing up desk space and eliminating cables) exactly at my mouth when needed, and totally invisible on video calls/meetings.

*EDIT*

This view may show it a bit better:

Well that's a lot of good info guys. You may be pushing me to the boom or desk mount of some kind in the future :) I do understand it's the preferred setup.

Do avoid your cheap $20 special boom mic arms if you go that way. I did pick up a cheap one out of curiosity and because of the loose joints and all that and returned quite quickly. Any small bump on the desk was drastically amplified and the mic basically wobbled on the end of the mount. I didn't have a way to tighten the joints and such to make it stop.

One other question, anyone run a mic through a powered USB hub? Any issues? I always seem to have PC USB full but I have some space in my powered hub.
