My CC saw the pricing of these and shredded itself without my consent.
I won't be a 4090 owner anytime soon...or ever.

Over to you @JD Too rich for my blood! I still want a used 3080 and I'm even dithering over the price of those!Well clearly JD or Lysrin need to buy one, as we can't have a situation where not a single user on a hardware forum got a 4090. I don't want to have to take one for the team guys![]()
Oh. OH!Well clearly JD or Lysrin need to buy one, as we can't have a situation where not a single user on a hardware forum got a 4090. I don't want to have to take one for the team guys![]()
As I was laying bed (after odring a new 4K TV) I got to thinking that my GTX 970 currently in my Plex server is probably not going to cut it as a gaming card any more.Well clearly JD or Lysrin need to buy one, as we can't have a situation where not a single user on a hardware forum got a 4090.
I didn't think a GTX 970 could be used to transcode in Plex.As I was laying bed (after odring a new 4K TV) I got to thinking that my GTX 970 currently in my Plex server is probably not going to cut it as a gaming card any more.![]()
Doesn't do HEVC transcode.I didn't think a GTX 970 could be used to transcode in Plex.

This is gonna be an issue for FPS games. It was (dlss-2) a huge issue for games like modern warfare and couldn't be used in competitive gaming at all. Head shots, for example, the target redicule was off by 5-6 pixels. This means any medium to long range shots couldn't be made and it varied per weapon setup. Obviously this isn't going to work. This is exactly what my concern was originally. While the dlss-3 gains are impressive, it isn't really the measuring stick that should be used to tout massive gains.
TLDW;
Adds inpur latency. If a game runs @ 120FPS, it feels like 60FPS.
Moving UI elements can get distorted badly.
If it can't maintain like 120FPS, artifacts are clearly visible.
Won't really be usable on lower end RTX cards as he doesn't suggest using it unless you can maintain 120FPS BEFORE frame generation is enabled.
Which brings up the big question, who is this for and especially for the RTX 4090. 4090 is obviously meant for 4K gaming as he seriously pulls ahead. But DLSS3 shouldn't be used unless below 120FPS. The RTX 4090 does not support 4K past 120FPS tho. So unless you are using a 1440P or smaller display @ 240Hz, it makes no sense.
