Samsung Odyssey G8, Alienware AW3423DW, other monitor suggestions

LG C2, PG42UQ, and presumably LX3 are the same 42" panel, with the LX3 being bendable.

Key differences between C2 42" & PG42UQ is the Asus has 1.4 Displayport, a matte coating (trade off antiglare for colour vibrancy), and a heatsink which should sustain higher nits of brightness. Displayport should allow it to go into standby mode without playing around with a TV Remote to turn off/on if that is desired. Also 138hz mode vs 120hz but that is largely irrelevant.

LG C2 42" is already on sale regularly - even in Canada, due to it being an undesirable size for most people looking for a TV. $1900 PGUQ42 (new release) vs $1600 C2 42" currently, and you can of course get extended warranty via someone like Costco.

Edit: forgot to mention The LG/Corsair 45" are indeed the same panel, unknown if it's RGB subpixel. Probably not - I suspect they'd make it a big marketing point. The only RGB subpixel OLED displays I'm aware so far are the "printed" OLEDs made by JOLED and sold by LG in the professional series.

C2 doesn't have a blur reduction mode @ 120Hz tho if motion clarity is an absolute must for you. But the Alienware also doesn't. Not sure about the other 42" LGD variants. Seems Asus definitely doesn't have it.

The FO48U I believe uses the C1 panel AND it does have a blur reduction mode. BUT only @ 120Hz.

IMO I still think the C1 > C2 do to the availability of 120Hz blur reduction. Although not smaller than 48". Currently on sale if stock available in your area.

my replacement has its own issue the tape that held the foam padding ripped off pixels from the bezel had to use the blackest paint i could find to fix it.

One of the rtings staff members actually replied to me on reddit and recommended the Samsung QN90B here

That being said, colors and blacks on an OLED are spectacular. But reading text or excel is the majority of my work. The Asus could be a good option, but price is $1900 which is a steep bill for a monitor. The C2 or QN90B should be on sale for Black Friday in a month or so, so I imagine the Asus it's going to be well over $700 over the other option by the time holiday sales roll in (plus it has a real 'gamer' look :S)

I'll probably see what goes on sale for black Friday and possibly order both the QN90B and the C2 via Costco and do a side by side and return one. I don't normally like returning stuff, but Costco's made enough money off of me over the years I'll forgive myself this once.

If the Asus got a great sale by then I'd pick it up as it seems the best of all worlds, but that price is brutal.

It's like they knew this and decided hey let's double down on the ROG Tax since we got almost everything checked. Sadly this is my first OLED and it's got some QC issue's right out the gate.

Rtings review is generally pretty good with some issues on brightness;

One of the reasons I chose the G7 was the good text rating (7.5) on RTINGS. They suggested the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 32" with better text & 4K - it has a couple of gaming CONS tho.
