So this happened - Pixel 6 battery swelled

If you are anything like me, it will be sitting in there for a couple years till it ain't worth it. :p

I've always had plans to replace the glass on my previous phones. But then never do.

Yeah, relative value/functionality even more so than older PC gear. :)

I've got an older motorola sitting on the bench that I replaced the battery on, but couldn't get the screen to work when I put it back together. The specs are pretty dismal now even as a burner phone so it's pretty much a "trade in any phone" body (although many of those offers require that the phone at least power up).

Yup, I could see that happening :)

I shouldn't, because it is a decent phone and was great when my wife used it for travel... but we'll see

I assume wireless charging? I had tablets and recently my s8+ (although already destroyed screen) bulge out recently. I believe wireless charging never really stops. The battery probably just prevents the charge at some point.
Sorry Solace, missed your question. That's interesting about wireless charging. Not sure what you mean by never stops. At the time the swelling happened it wasn't in use at all. Hadn't been for a month or two, certainly wasn't charging, and was powered off. So something weird happened for sure.

Both of the ones we had that "off gassed" were my wife's that were kept in a folio style case. We assumed it was the extra heat while charging overnight that triggered it.

We've since started charging first thing in the morning so that our phones are only charging for an hour or so.
