Hey Knuckleheads!

How are you guys today? The sun is out and the day is good!
I got off work just a minute ago to come home to a computer with crapped out old speakers now 100% broken ( no more holding it up with a CD case to zone in on the audio connection).
So I now have a question,

I used to have a 5:1 sound system with bass control and I really enjoyed the setup.
Since my headphones with 1 earbud working, I am now in the market for a speaker setup for my computer, which is actually going to be intended for my new Rig I will be building soon.

Can I have some recommendations? I am a fan of Samsung/Logitech products but not limited to them.
Also, I am considering in going with a pair of headphones for my computer as well.

Let's hear what you got for me.

I can make any budget work.
I will be transferring the items I like to my rig (when i build it) and I want that thing to run as smooth as butter.
My current computer will be used for testing/troubleshooting but I need some audio until then.

If any budget will work you might as well pick yourself up a kickarse home theater system, but I doubt that's really what you intend... :)

Pricing on speaker systems will range from $50ish to well over $1K without bordering on the silly expensive.

On the cheaper end I found the Creative Inspire 5.1's to be better than the similarly priced Logitech model. Next option up for a 5.1 system for me would be the Z906 at low 3's. If you're spending more than that, buy a HT system and use digital audio out.

I'd recommend the Edifier brand of computer speakers if you are going that route. Significantly better sound than Logitech and pretty much everything else in that price range.

Thanks for the comments, I got some work to do.

I also have a friend who can get a discount on Soundbars with optical cables. I am going to assume these are all much better options than a wireless BT soundbar though.

Do you have anything in the way of 7:1 ?

EDIT: It might be fun to get a full theater setup...

My budget is $1400 but not limited to that.
I like music, so im willing to pay more for that crystal sound.

If your budget is $1400 I'd go with a proper stereo setup and wouldn't even consider anything else. You have a ton of options so don't be afraid to ask questions. It would probably be a good idea to look at Canuck Audio Mart for used stuff as you can get great gear at really good prices. Also, if you have a decent stereo place go and check out as many speakers as you can so you know what you like.

If it were my money I'd probably get the Emotiva Fusion Fusion 8100 | Emotiva Audio | High-end audio components for audiophiles and videophiles, spanning 2-channel music systems, as well as 5.1 and 7.1 home theaters. Products include multichannel amplifiers, stereo amplifiers, and monoblock amplifiers, as
B stock if at all possible to save some money or wait until it goes on sale.
For speakers, Angstrom all the way. Possibly something like this Loud Speakers | Angstrom Loudspeakers if you will listen to a lot of 5.1. If you listen to more 2 channel music then I would get a lot better front speakers. Actually there are a pair of Angstrom Mod 3's on Canuck Audio Mark for $350 or something like that with is a great price on them plus there is a wide selection of other speakers there as well. Hell, I have a pair of Mission 702 bookshelfs to sell haha.

Of course the options are limitless so it's a good time to read as much as you can.

What can you tell me about Bose in regards to computer setups. I do know Bose is amazing to listen to.

I also have a quick question.

I am using Foobar for my music needs. Does anyone recommend something perhaps better?
I like Foobar because it allows me to upload a library and use my current folder structure, where as iTunes would copy my files somewhere else, taking up unwanted space.

The thing is, when I try to download the ipod manager for Foobar, I can't get the correct file. The download page looks sketchy and whatever I have downloaded before, was never the file I was looking for.

Perhaps iTunes could be explained to me, or another program recommended to me.

NOTE: I need a playlist option

Ipod Manager: iPod manager - musicmusic's foobar2000 stuff
