You're definitely having some struggles it seems! I can't tell if you like the game or not! But you are definitely putting the time in! :D

Cooool... that positioning of the cockpit reminds me of the Anaconda ship from Elite Dangerous.

Any chance we could get a view looking out of the cockpit? :)

Here you go.
I actually am building a duplicate of this because of course the game has bugged out and is not letting me rename this from the base ship I had captured.
Which is...frustrating. So tonight I will finish making its twin, then sell this one to free up a spot for my next project.
Gonna have to farm and sell a lot so I can start working on the new design in my head lol.

That's an irritating bug, especially given all the time it took to build it I'm guessing!

Does that scaling feel "right" when you're playing? It seemed like the ship out in front of you would have looked bigger than that from the outside shot. I've found that in other games too that the scaling didn't quite match the exterior view. Does that one feel right? Not a big deal, just curious.

Honestly,

I think the scaling is okay. It might look big on the outside but its only 40m.
It feels right when I am piloting it to be honest, in terms of what I see when I am walking around outside and inside the ship and then piloting it.
I am quite proud of the design, and totally impressed by the engines that became available to me. I always wanted to do a TRI engine design but It left my bigger ships not as agile as I'd like them to be.

Once I rebuild this sucker tonight (if I have enough credits) I might change it up slightly from my initial one a bit now that I know its agile, adding in the bigger shielded cargo I think will happen and different pods to give it some more 'industrial' looking features.

Ah that's good! I believe it was Elite Dangerous that I used to find always felt off. You'd look at the exterior views of your ship, and the size of your pilot in the cockpit, and then back inside in the first person view the cockpit never seemed scaled right, always felt too small. Doesn't impact gameplay at all of course, just immersion... for me. I'm anal that way! lol

That one is a cool design. I have still so much to learn Master ;)

So far every ship I have been in, feels to scale when I am inside.
Which is nice. I do get what you are saying , I've been in ED before as well and it does feel like it is not proportional at all.

Ship building in starfield could have been so much better than it is. Best way to describe my success is I've learned to work within the system and now I understand what I need to do, but it was a bit painful to get there.

They should have made it so you could 'Blue Print' a ship and slowly work on it instead of having to make it flyable to use and then move from base to base.
They also should have allowed you to build from scratch instead of needing a 'base ship' to reconfigure.

And finally, your home base with building pad should get access to all parts, not just some.

But beyond those issues, its been fun for me now that I understand it. And I will keep building and rebuilding until I'm level 100 and decide to finish my first playthourgh lol.

That first one is an excellent idea.

That second one, I didn't realize that wasn't an option. That would be an ideal addition for ship building. Odd that is isn't there. I'd think they just could have allowed you to buy a base skeleton or frame as a starting point and allowed you to go from there.

Have you suggested those on some official suggestion forum or feedback mechanism? Those are good ones.

I actually haven't looked where to send official suggestions yet for this game to be honest.

I have a million ideas for this game, but that comes from my work with WG over the years. I always look objectively how to make a feature better in a game than what it is.

Watch some YouTube Videos.

It was so new when I started playing there was next to nothing so I had to learn everything the hard way.
Building ships, once you get the hang of it, is a hell of a lot of fun.

It can be a PITA but its rewarding when you get flight clearance and can save the ship.
Just as an FYI, everything that is 'junk' in the ship goes to its cargo hold, so you have to remember to sell it all off once you are done modifying a ship.
Its annoying, but depending on the size of the ship you get like 1-3K worth of garbage to sell.
