Starfield

I had gotten a much better ship prior to getting the Kepler S, so it was underwhelming to say the least.... wish I had picked the "kitchen sink" option instead

I opted for building my own, as it gives me control on the components and shape vs the ones you can get from doing quests.
But that isn't always an option so. I thought the design was fricking hilarious. It was good enough to sell for me so I could get more stuff for my own toys.

So, another check-in to make sure I'm not missing something. Selling stuff... inventory, ship, and companions.

Selling from you own inventory - no problem.
Selling from ship - you can usually select ship, but does that include storage containers in your ship, or just your ship cargo itself?
Selling from companions - do you have to take all the stuff from your companion, put it in your inventory, and then sell it? That is what I've been doing as there doesn't seem to be a way to access companion inventory when selling, but that is tedious!

Just want to make sure there isn't a better way.

And also, resources. I am guessing that if I put a bunch of resources say in the storage containers at the Lodge, I don't have access to them out at an outpost or research/manufacturing table to use or to sell, correct? That is I suppose the attraction of making your own base to do that at.

You can sell from yourself and the Ship in port at the vendors or the travelling ones you find but not on your companions.
The inventory system and outpost system needs a serious overhaul to streamline.
As well, as you level up the Vendors should get more credits. It is a PITA to have to constatly wait at a location to sell all my goods.

Thanks again @Soultribunal . I figured that would be the answer but I was hoping I had perhaps missed something! Maybe when the script extender or whatever is released modders can make changes to it. Some of this stuff I find really perplexing though. How in all the play testing that had to have gone into this game did someone not say "wait a minute... that isn't fun!" ??

It's actually caused me to pick up a lot less stuff to avoid the hassle of selling it or storing it. But the StarUI HUD mod helps, showing you the bar for items indicating it's relative worth and also the icons for type of item.

I still very much love the game, I've sadly (I was deathly ill with COVID so that is my excuse) got 10days playtime. But, there are things that definately piss me off a bit with the way it handles Inventory. Fallout 4 and 76 was way better IMO than how this game handles it.

They did some stuff to maybe force exploration or travel and made things complicated (Sharing Resources between outposts for example) that didn't need to be.

Hopefully it gets patched out and made better.

That and some of the bugs doing Hostage Rescue (where I save the person and the ship remains hostile and on my map).

Still, overall I am happy. The game is a framework for so much more.
I remember FO76 and it was hot garbage when it launched, but is now actually really really fun. I am hopeful that this game follows that path (though it is better than 76 was on Day 1).

Trying some mods, and I'm a little confused by one aspect of the StarfieldCustom.ini and Starfield.ini. The former ends up being under your Documents\My Games\Starfield folder and the latter under your Steam game install folder.

A lot of the mods require having and editing the StarfieldCustom.ini, but the wording isn't always clear if the Starfield.ini should be removed or if they are just read in a hierarchical way: Starfield.ini first, then stuff in StarfieldCustom.ini overrides or adds to the configuration.

And there are also some mods that seem to want you to edit both, so in those cases you clearly need both.

Is it correct in general to keep both and just edit as required?

So far the mods I've added had worked fine, but there are some 4K texture ones and some LUTS that I'm not sure are working. Perhaps they are and the changes are too subtle to jump out at me.

I spent the last two days on the outer moons stealing ships I am trying to get the one ship that you can get in newgame+ but Idont think I am fast enough to get there. I still cant dod the take out engines and board ships in space I think Ineed to change weapons to something else mine are too powerful ( I am still maybe level 30) yes that kepler R is a huge ship but I like the cheapo one I built its one level and I dont get lost I jus tenter the one stair to get on the ship and straight to the pilot seat passing all the moding machines has pretty much everything except fopr a bed which Ineed to figure out how to get but when I exit my built ship I cant just run straight out I have to run along the joints because my head hits the bottom of the ship .
but apparently you can steal a guardian ship as long as you can get to it before any starborn exit it but I am too slow.
I think to day will be my last day trying to get one if I cant I will start doing side quests , I am starting to not take some of my companions on them because they tend to just start shooting at people for know particular reason especially when i am trying to be stealthy which is the way I prefer to play.
I also still haven't built a base yet haven't found a planet that has breathable air plus most necessities

Yeah, I only take ammo or rare/legendary/exotic gear as much as I like to hoard everything...

I still hoard everything that has value. I have to fuel my ship building addiction so I loot most weapons , Suits, Helmets ect.
Usually 2 hours I net about 350K credits all in doing my thing. A few hours before I build or rebuild a ship. But they need a better system for selling (more vendor credits the higher your level) and a way to View the Item in comparison or its stats before you slug it in your inventory for those who are picky. There are so many other games that allow you to view before you loot.

Oh. Hope you are feeling better!

Still not 100% , 4 weeks later. But I survived my first bout, I get to wear the T-shirt. I have also never been as sick as I was when I got it. It was very brutal because I have other conditions so it wiped the floor with me.

You can technically glitch into that ship, but its rare, and I've only seen one person capture one. I think its a waste to try but thats just me.
I build my own and its a fun hobby to get into if you have paitence (and if you Don't many many youtube videos out there to make cool ships).

Eh, there are some golden planets that have a lot of resources, but if you Find a 'System' that has lots of different resources on different planets just build some Transport Hubs and link them , at least the intra systems ones work better than the other type they have.

I actually find the desolate moons to be the most fun as the low gravity makes it easy to move around and do cool things but that is just me.

Andromas has good resources, I have an outpost there and there is a Moon on Vega IIB I think that doesn't need extreme environment skills to setup a shop for Mining Titanium which you will need by the bucket load for base building. Much more efficient than a vendor.

I don't think there is a perfect planet, but at times you can find them grouped in a system and it makes it easy to make one mother of a base. Which is what I've done on Callisto and another Level 75 spot.

on my other save IO tried the whole transport hub thing and it was very glitchy so I gave up but amd going to try again once I can forsure steal a guardian ship lol I do agree those ships are good only if you can steal one early on my cheapo ship I built ( its a class c but that because of the reactor and guns) wastes every guardian ship I have come acros mind you I am playing at normal level so its easier
