How long do you expect it to last?
Our last two vehicles have been loaded 10yr old cars with aprox. 140K. We expect them to last 3 years and anything beyond that is gravy.
Personally, I prefer a larger auto (currently driving a 2002 Buick Century), but keep in mind that anything with a retail price of $30K+ is going to be close to 10 yrs old with 100K+ before it'll be within your price range.
Will you be doing mostly city driving, or is there a lot of highway mileage in your future?

There is no such thing as a new car for under $12K taxes in............
put the money down on a new yaris or lower end used Toyota. great cars. or check out Subaru. just my2cents
You'll definitely be looking at buying used. You may be able to find a fully loaded Chevrolet Cobalt for around that price.
could not agree with you more. me and my mom have been sharing a toyota corolla for a while and theres been little to no problems with it.
but following the trend, there is NO WAY your gettin a new family car for under $10k
I agree, there is nothing I am aware of that is that cheap.
Take it, and use it as a down payment on a decent car. A Suzuki SX4 AWD edition would be perfect.
