I want to push my Q6600 further. Now the cores peak at 75C with the 212+ at 1.45V. Which one is the best? Thermalright Venomous X, Corsair H50, Noctua NH-D14, Scythe Mugen 2 or Zalman CNPS10X Flex.

You can upgrade your heatsink to something better, but I can tell you right away that it's unlikely you'll be able to increase your overclock without switching to a very good watercooling setup or sub-ambient cooling. 3.6GHz is the upper limit for nearly all Q6600 CPUs under standard cooling.

Since you say now, what were the temps before?

3.6Ghz is pretty high for a Q6600 and most of them top out at around that range. Your Cooler Master Hyper 212+ is already an excellent cooler. I say stick with it and just leave it as is. Maybe clean the fans and heatsink, make sure the cabling is done properly for sufficient airflow, etc.

FrostyTech is just BAD.

I would suggest you keep your current cooler. It seems you may have a mounting issue, or maybe some better thermal paste (IC7) would help. I don't think a Venemous X or DH-14 will help much considering the Q66 has a much lower heat load than an i7 and i7 is where big coolers thrive.

And the Q66 never gets farther than 3.6 without water.

What's up all.

I saw the first post and for a second I felt sick.
I have a q6600 (G0) as well....and I JUST ordered a 212+ thursday (comes this week). Hoped to push this baby to the limit.
Mine hits 3.6 no problem. I have been able to hit 3.8 and get into windows and sit idle, p95 and temps skyrocket quick.
This is all currently on the stock heatsink and fan lol. I'm able to run at 3.4-3.6 and load it.

ATM running at 2.9 at 1.1 volts I also played around with it and she looks like she will do well over 3.1-3.2 at around 1.2ish. Haven't tried any further, wouldn't be suprised if she would keep going.
JUst looking forward to getting that 212+ and hooking up the R4's to it, espically that I got them all for 40 bucks. what a deal that was.

BUt yea I would keep the cooler, like others said the q6600 is lower tdp so we should be fine. if your not running 2 fans then do that up, you should expect to lose a few degrees...depending on fan.
