The end is nigh....

HWC - your beloved computer retailer owes creditors $35M - what a cool sum - https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/2ff03f_c7fd76d183ba40668569eac31ff5f33d.pdf

You should really cool it with the 'HWC - your beloved blah blah' it's getting old. You've already made a thread about NCIX and HWC ties and it was explained to you, you've seen it discussed in this thread as well. We get it, you hate NCIX, but they're not affiliated with HWC. I hope you're not spamming on LTT saying 'divest yourself!'.
It's coming across rant-y

Where there is smoke there is fire. Sorry for hurting people's feeling. I thought there are many NCIX fans on HWC?

This is a hardware forum. Anytime a retailer disappears its a bad thing. That said, I stopped spending money there a long time ago because it took forever to get stuff.

I agree with Freenight...your wording makes it sound like you are here with some kind of axe to grind. There are folks who hang out here (ie. Deadthings and 10e) I have met personally who liked to hang out over there a lot. I feel sad that their community is being shut down, especially the folks who folded for them for years.

Out of respect for the folks on here who have been long-time members of both communities, I think we should be mindful of what we post. If you have a serious axe to grind and want a sympathetic ear, see if the forums still work over at NCIX or head over to Reddit as you will probably find more disaffected folks like yourself.

One thing I don't understand is why going from vendor (EVGA) to retailer (NCIX), bypassing the distributor is frowned upon. Doesn't that help reduce some costs as there's one less corporation trying to make some profits? This ensures lower prices for the consumer, and higher profit margins for the retailer doesn't it?

Post in question

Edit: Also if margins for computer products and electronics are small, then why is Canada Computers and Memory Express expanding into Vancouver, taking over where NCIX used to be? How do we know they won't go belly up like NCIX? Canada Computers has always been a bit sketchy with their business practices in my opinion. My friends feel the same about them.

I'm worried about CC now too. They have locations everywhere here near their home base, which might work but expending out west will be tricky.

FYI - this is just based on my readings of what others in the industry have said, I am an idiot that knows nothing about the retail industry as I'm not in it.

I think It doesn't actually make a huge difference to EVGA profit margins, if anything it reduces them slightly, its literally just a "easier to manage/less paperwork" thing, that's it. The other downside is that doing it this way is they litterally burnt bridges with many in the industry.

Probably EVGA would likely of been able to make HIGHER margin by selling into both distributors as well as large retailers such as NCIX. From a consumer standpoint - it likely woulnd't make much of a difference due to how rebates work in the industry.
