The Happy thread!

Well last tuesday i started with Wal-mart. Our local store is expanding to a super center and i was hired as the new fresh/assistant manager.
Looking back i hated and was wary of walmart because of thier size and stories you hear/read.

Now...wow, such a great company to work for, that really instills team-work within all employees. been great so far and the salary is more than i expected and wanted with great benefits!

super stoked...

also, I think as store management, I qualify for the intel retail edge deals!

Congrats. My daughter worked for Wal-Mart for many years. They really do treat their employees very well, regardless of all the bad press they get.

That's sort of the plan, especially with my contract winding up and most jobs being a little lack luster here.

After 35+ years in the military I turned in my ID card today, and then I went golfing... fits the happy thread I think! I get to relax and do home stuff for the next year or so, and then maybe look for some part time work to keep me out of trouble.

Well interview 1 with company A went well last night over the phone, they want me to do an online generic assessment before moving forward, so I've passed the initial interview stage.

Setup my 'system' for my video interview with company B this evening, so here's hoping all things go well with them too.

Hats off to you good sir! I genuinely thank you for your service and hope that your retirement is a peaceful one. Finding a part time job is a good plan, or perhaps even find something to do that allows you to start your own business?

On the home front, my wife and I have finalized the deposit on our new townhouse and move in a month. The chaos of boxes begins and I couldn't be happier for the move. The added space will be awesome, and my wife and I agree that the kitchen is hers, and the unfinished basement is ALL MINE! Can't wait to get started on some projects that have been waiting on space to complete!

Heh.. grat's and enjoy your semi-retirement... now begins the long slow dribble of money from DND as they finalize the claim... seems to me it was over a year and I was still getting the occasional random cheque in the mail. :)
