Where were you overseas?? I love vintage audio gear. I have been in and out of the high end gear from installation to sales for a quite awhile and still have yet to hear anything warmer than my 37 year old JBLs after they were re-magged/re-foamed and crossovers re-capped.
Kids can put the damper on all that stuff. I have three carpet sharks, but my business is doing OK and I dont have a car hobby. I seen my buddies that do and holy crap, that is a money eating endeavour.
I too have a buddy with the wine bug. He prides himself on getting in on the $300 dollar bottle of wine when it was $60. Has an impressive collection and usually busts open a nice one or two when I visit. Actually hanging a LCD at his condo in Canmore this month, excited to see what we get into this time
I was quite content with the fact I may have been done with DJing as I was so bored with my controller and never bought actual vinyl anymore due to it being so hard to find, and what I did want required you buying 2 or 3 45 compilation to get the one song you wanted, and usually needed to be shipped from U.K.. But, with digital aiff and wav downloads and the advances in hardware I really want to get back into it and gigging out again. Just ridiculously fun on club gear nowdays![]()

I'm still running my Polk SDA1 - B monitors, but the rest of the gear is gone. The power amp (Pioneer M90 / C90) kept losing a channel and it just got too expensive bringing it in every year or so for repair, and my prosumer DBX units became obsolete once there was a digital chain that had to remain unbroken so they ended up being sold/traded/given away.
