So, It's been a few months since the storage crisis was supposed to happen. Back in May, the new Chia network opened to mine, or should I say farm chia coin. And since chia is only farmed on Storage, the conclusion was that storage would disappear from the shelves, and of course prices would increase... And it did… Kinda…

Let’s get started with the PS5. So a couple of days ago, the youtube channel, Austin Evans released a video about the new-ish generation of PS5’s. As is, the main difference was the fact that the newer version was 300 grams lighter, which is quite a lot considering its size.

After opening it up, they realized that the cooler for the PS5 SOC was significantly smaller on the new version and that a lot of copper parts were replaced with a different material. All of this results in that 300-gram difference. Now, notice that they put the ps5 back together and checked the exhaust of the ps5 with a thermal camera.

At the back of the new console, the temperature read was significantly higher than on the older, heavier model. So with that information, Austin kinda rushed to conclusions and assumed that because of that, the new ps5 must run hotter which means that its worse. Even going as far as to say that in the long term, performance could drop with the accumulation of dust and stuff.

Assuming it has all the same wattage components and not revision parts, wouldnt a hotter exhaust mean a better heat delta transfer? The heat is being removed rather than staying in the case.

GN review is out.

TLDW (it's 32 min long): new one runs 'cooler', but not significant enough to warrant hunting a particular model unit.
