The NVIDIA TITAN Z Performance Review Comment Thread

Good job on the review.

Concerning the Titan Z I am still confused. When I watched the live stream where Jen-Hsun Huang revealed the Titan Z I certainly came away with the impression that this card was a professional card first, not really targeting gamers. As such I guess I thought their insane pricing "made sense". Since then I get the idea from all kinds of people that the Titan Z was made to rival AMD's 295X2 and as such makes no sense. Re-reading what I just wrote I am still thinking the Titan Z is a pro card that people can buy to game on.

Sky may I ask your opinion on this matter?

EDIT: I am embarrassed. I actually read your first page of the review and now have my answers. Sorry

Read Sky's conclusion as well.

NVIDIA had no way of convincingly beating AMD’s dual GPU card while remaining on air cooling so they threw in the towel and brandished the TITAN name once again.

Sounds audacious of Nvidia to pull an act like this for consumers but I can't see any other explanation.

Remember, everything is conjecture until it is actually confirmed directly from NVIDIA but what's quoted above is the most reasonable explanation.

NVIDIA's TITAN Z was launched without much fanfare but drew both admiration and derision from gamers due to its steep price tag. But how does it actually perform in games? We find out.

Sorry my english

Thank you for your review. But i have one question for you

Sweclockers review TITAN Z throttles to 706 mhz after prolonged gaming sessions

But your review clocks of TITAN Z is between 980MHz and 993MHz.

How can you do that.

What is room temperature when testing TITAN Z ?

Thank you.

Unless Nvidia lowers the price to under $2,000, this cannot possibly be "worth it" for very many people.

To be honest, the dual cards this generation from both vendors are really underwhelming. Video card prices have to go down. 28nm is a mature process now so there is no reason why they are so expensive. I suppose the cheap 290s on Ebay that were once mining cards are a decent value.

Let's hope that AMD has something up its sleeve to fight Maxwell. We don't want either GPU company gaining an advantage. The Titan and more so than ever, this Titan Z is a testament to that. So too I suppose would Intel's performance since Sandy Bridge.

Room temperature during the extended benchmark runs was ~24C. I gamed on it of quite a few hours and never saw it throttle that badly. I've actually never seen such a linear output from a modern GPU. Typically PowerTune and NVIDIA's Boost algorithms fluctuate clock speeds several times a minute when striving to find an optimal TDP.

Thank you very much.

Could you test again with AMD 14.6 Driver (with 295X2) and 340.43 Driver (with TITAN Z).

I have updated the review actually. It was a typo on that page.
