the 'Stuff That's Just Really Interesting 'thread

Wife gave to ok to actually do my class 6 so been digging into different types of bikes. Gas, hybrid, electric only... Steam powered never came up.
When I got mine I did the motorcycle lessons/class at TNT on the SW side of the city, and would recommend it if you haven't ridden before or it's been a long time.

I had ridden dirt bikes as a kid but was really rusty and found it worthwhile. Only downside is they operate out of that megachurch off of Henday for the classes and parking lot, but thankfully it didn't seem like there was any inkling from the instructor to add religion to the course.

Then after getting your 6, you can realize owning a motorcycle in Alberta sucks and stop riding haha.

Everyone I know has been injured on a bike at least once. Even lost a someone I knew when a truck blew through a stop sign on a range road cutting him off at highway speeds and this was an experienced rider that had recently gone to vegas and back. I was looking at it more of a commuter proposition in the summer months. My route to work is fairly short, short enough i considered just biking but the difference in elevation in the mornings would destroy me. The laws with e-bikes mean I legally would need to be on the road in Edmonton (no applicable legal route otherwise for an e-bike) but I'd not be able to keep up with traffic. So I was contemplating something like a small used cafe cruiser or plain naked bike with a smaller displacement. I have no dreams of a large bike going down the highway doing cross country trips etc.

Also at the auto show they did have a few schools doing advertising, TNT I think was the one that gave the best overall impression when talking to them.
