Wanting a Good Internet Tablet/Convertible/Netbook

Sorry for the thread Hi-jack CM, back to your thread. Just wanted to subscribe.:thumb:

No problem at all SuperG! I have a few friends that have been asking for similar as well so it's all good. These types of tablets/netbooks/combos seem to have alot of interest recently.

I have not tried one yet and I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in here somewhere (ok by me I guess) but for those that are interested the Asus Eee Tablet is currently listed as in stock at quite a few Best buys here in Canada. Asus Eee 12.1" Tablet featuring Intel Dual Core i5 Processor 470UM (EP121-1A004M) - English - Silver : Tablets - Best Buy Canada

I know it is large, 12.1" but it still might be a decent option for some people. Although most likely not for the OP.

Weight is listed at 1.16kg and well that seems a little heavy to me, and to make things even worse the reported battery life on the best buy site is only 3 hours. Come on Asus, you can do better than that.

You don't know me very well, so i'll just be brief and say : No apple products, ever. :haha:

And like I've already explained, I have hand problems and being forced to hold "up" a 10-inch or larger tablet would cause me pain - which is also a no-go. A convertible laptop/tablet that can sit on my lap or something smaller/lighter is absolutely required.

If I don't use a full OS, i might as well just use my Android smartphone to do the exact same thing that your iPad does... but at the cost of leaving a PC running All Day Long at home? No, thank you. That doesn't sound very green to me, lol. I never use more power at one time than I absolutely need... I.E. I won't turn on a main rig/gamer pc to check Facebook - thats just overkill and silly.

Just please read all the posts in the thread next time before replying, as I've already answered/addressed most (if not all) that I've stated above

I read all the posts, I was just giving you my experience and thoughts that I've amassed from owning an iPad since launch and briefly a galaxy tab. Most of what I said was just my personal preferences when it comes to a tablet so I'm not sure how you addressed that before.

I know most people on tech sites hate apple, but I don't see why that means I can't share what I've learned by owning one. What I said can be applied to any generic tablet.

Sounds to me like you should go droid, and use the VNC apps that I mentioned when you want a file from your comp. You know when your going to be needing a file, and it isn't that often. 95% of what you need will already be on your tablet. Windows 7 just doesnt fit that well into a tablet environment, and if your set on W7 then I'd wait for the amd fusion tabs to come out so you'll have some decent power to run windows. Either that or windows 8 with it's ARM CPU support

Again: No cellphone OSes, and I don't want to have to leave a computer on 24/7 at home in order to get a full experience. Using VNC or another remote connection going out defeats the purpose of being energy efficient. I, for one, turn Everything off when I leave. If I can't get exactly what I want from a single device then I dont get it :haha:

Then I'd need to enable WOL and configure my router as well. I would also be Still using 2 devices to do what 1 device should be able to. If im missing a file, ill bring it on a USB key or something. Now please, no more remote connection suggestions! :P I'm looking for a true mobile device, not one that relies on another to be functional.

And where's the love for the HTC Flyer?!?!? :shok: This is BIG people! lol
