Water cooling build

Thanks for the great info Pat, finally i've ordered 5ft of tygon 1/2"ID 3/4"OD and 10ft of Clearflex 1/2ID 7/8OD :punk:

Only 5ft ? lol and 1/2" ID 7/8" OD ? Thats an OD that i don't know :bleh:

I think you meant to say 5/8" OD right ? If so i hope you got yourself some coolsleeves\smartcoils ... That kind of tubing does not have a good bend radius and will likely to bend\kink on even the smallest turns. Did you saw the pics of my rigs i posted in the gallery section ? I used smartcoils almost everytime i used 5/8" OD Tubing.

Well yeah never heard about it neither, but since i've always like huge tubing i've went for it  eventhough it's probably just a mistake in the listing : http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=19705&vpn=DDCF60T51&manufacture=Danger Den

what do you think?

Only 5Ft. because it's so damn expensive @ nicx and only the CPU will be cooled and i will be using a T-line and a fillport like you, so I won't need much.

Um..yeah i think it's a mistake. I really never heard of that OD.

5ft might be enough but really make sure you cut it perfectly so that you don't end up needing to cut another piece because you need your tubing to be 1 cm longer! lol

Oh and make sure to leak test the system for a good 24hours. Thats how i personally do my leak testing: I get the mobo off the case, mount the blocks onto it, then i mount it back into the case. Then i mount the pump, rad and res into the case (Actually you might want to put your rad, res and pump before putting your motherboard in your case), i cut tubing length etc... and finally... i fill the system. Once it's all filled up, i let only the pump run for a good 24 hours and actively look for leaks every hours or so. I also used to put some pieces of paper towels under each blocks and barbs just in case there would be a leak and it saved my hardware a few times.

Good luck!

At around 4$ a FT, you can be sure that i'll double check my lenghts before cutting it, like the guy making a guitar in the budweiser ad

That clearflex stuff is massive outside (not a typo)- it seems like it would be hard to work with_ I guess I'll find out this week.

Is it really 7/8"OD ?

No big deal, after all we were pretty sure it was 3/4" in the first place.

I've also got 5ft of Tygon tubing, I must say that it's a lot superior in quality compared to clearflex, more flexibe, less stiff, clearer. Just saying for the record. :)

Would it be possible to move this topic in the cooling section ? Considering we've gone off-topic after 5posts, i'll also post updates of the build here!

Hi guys, i'll be putting everything together soonly and i've got a few questions before getting started.

What clamps do you use/prefer ? I'm planning to use worm-drive clamps instead of the plastic ones.(Looks more solid) Comments ?

Are any of you using teflon tape to seal the threads ? I've heard good things about using it to prevent eventual leaks. Comments ?

I've ordered the Hydrx additive from swiftech, was it a good choice ? Is it sticky ? Will it stain the tubes ? I definitely want the liquid to be UV reactive and I thought it was the best option as it also acts as a an anti-algae formula and such.

Thanks in advance!

Here's the setup, i'll upload pics once i receive everything.

Block : Swiftech - Storm rev1
Pump : Swiftech - MCP-655
Rad : Dual-120 Weapon Heatercore w/ shrouds

T-line, DD Fillport and tygon 1/2" ID Tubing, pretty simply eh?

What would you like it titled?

Ah looks like editing the title doesn't work, "WC Build" will be ok. Thanks!
